This is just scratching the surface of how these tools are manipulating people. In my local subreddit they’ve had to lock comments in every protest related thread because they’re completely inundated with comments from bots and trolls from external accounts. They can’t tell which are just outsiders trolling and which are bots but the sheer volume (many times in excess of past events like George Floyds’s murder) makes it pretty clear that many if not most are AI.

Frankly, I am not sure how much longer the internet can remain a place of genuine human interaction at this rate.
