The main thing I am critical of are the chat reports, but that was essentially Microsoft's doing.

I hate when people pretend that a owner owned and non- profit companies can never do any wrong.

And then they utilize the followers to do their social marketing.

I'm not saying polls are wrong. I'm just saying the way the news media reports on them isn't helpful. Polling should be used by organizations internally but not be offered up to public as some sort of measuring stick to go off of.

When CEOs say if they have to pay taxes they'll just raise prices instead of selling their 5th house people freak out.

A lot of people will disagree with me on this one. I've been a software engineer for 35 years now. I've worked at everything from tiny companies where I'm the only dev, to startups, to massive corporations with countless employees. And I've never seen anything like what's happening now.

People today cannot go a moment without crying about how they've been ghosted by someone else. But they don't really think about relevance when it comes to gaining friends and maintaining them.

Let me preface with, I really enjoyed the game and couldn't put it down but after beating the Outer Wilds base game, I have thoughts and I think this would get down voted to oblivion in the Outer Wilds group so here I am. This is just my experience but the game was sold to me as this inventive organic puzzle solving adventure where you'd stumble upon clues and solve puzzles but in reality it's a journal scrap hunting game. There are circular glyphs on every planet that tell you how to solve almost every puzzle. I spent 5 hours ignoring these glyphs cause I assumed they were nothing more than lore dumps but in reality they are progress gates. I assumed this game would work more like Animal Well where the game tells you literally nothing and you have to experiment with your tools and knowledge to solve puzzles but nope. I'd hesitate to even call this game a puzzle game, it's honestly more of a casual exploration game which there is nothing wrong with that, but seems more accurate.

Reasons to just do away (I am not suggesting a government ban) on competive sports. Ex. basketball, football, baseball, damn near everything else. I wasn't always like this. As anyone who remembers the 90s/00s can remember, the internet was supposed to liberate us. Free access to information meant everyone would be educated and informed, and able to freely communicate and organize.

I haven't played since before Wizards started pushing Commander, at that time called EDH. I felt the Standard Format was a perfect setup to keep the game fresh and innovative while still making money, and the Legacy Format was perfect for the people who had cards that are no longer in Standard. I think the Commander Format killed a perfect system, and Wizards/Hasbro are just trying everything to make money and keep the game mostly unplayable with the licensed tie-ins.

I really cannot understand the fanfare of "warm weather" places like Texas, Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, and the Gulf Coast. I feel like society has a tendency to idolize warm weather destinations like those.

Especially when they promote and use it out of "moral motivation" to "fight against twitter/big tech". You're still using a platform owned by one company. They're not really decentralized. There's nothing stopping them to go down the same path twitter did. They're funded by some questionable investors... Or, to quote something I recently read: "BlueSky is decentralized in the same way Total Energies is a green company."

Ok so first off I don't mean that games are too accessible to people with disabilities or anything like that. This is more of a critique of how strategy games shows you the ramification of your actions, even before you do the action.

I wrote this from the perspective of a kayfabe fan. If you've never heard the term kayfabe, it's an old carny term. It means to go along with the routine. Basically carnys are trying to scam you, and so they all work as a team. If they're in character, maybe one pretends to be an average carnival goer, such as yourself. They pretend to be just part of the crowd. And if they see you're being roped into a scam, they walk over, and rope you in further using the disguise as not being part of the scam to gain your trust. Then encourage you to fall for more scams.

I keep reading reviews of how horrible it is they switched the guy who did the songs in Moana 1 for the 2 girls who did the songs in Moana 2. After listening to alot, NUH UH. It is exactly what the Moana2 composers said about their songs growing on people. The specific difference is Energy. The Moana2 songs are Good and Empowering. The Moana1 songs are not except the Horizon one, which is beautiful. But I don't identify as a murderous giant crab addicted to shiny nor a deceptive braggart, so, while they may sound audibly well put together, the energy is off in Moana1 songs. I can almost smell the gender stereotype identity stuff with middle aged famous male composer songs being 'i need shiny things and will attack you' and 'youre welcome for being this awesome whilIe i decieve u', while the 2 up and coming girls have purely songs for protagonists that are like "destined for greatness go!" "think different to get extra far" and "you can do it x2". So to me, being a protagonist, I can find the first Moana songs wellwritten, but only the Horizon one repeatable. Moana2 does not have this problem and whichever song someone attaches to is healthy. I personally love "Get Lost".

Most of the posts that are frequently featured in the homepage are about social problems or styles of life common to that country (or most first world countries), and even limit to only United-Statesian media discussion. They do not appeal to someone like me, who has different thoughts, different people, different problems. It's hard to find something relatable in (most) non-local communities, because it's just about this style of culture. It doesn't helps with the poor website discorverability, making me limited to these same repetitive and unfunny posts.

I think most people say that it's not because it's popular to do so. The series has some genuinely funny bits.

Story, worldbuilding, dungeons, combat, and especially graphical performance are all universally better in Horizon. The only reason people care about Zelda is because "muh Nintendo", and the fact that it is a good set of ganes. However, I've seldom seen any criticism of Horizon outside of outright misogony and xenophobia, or "Assassin's Creed did it first", as if Guerilla has any control over history.

I hate how normalised it is to use 'low IQ' as an insult. As someone with below average intelligence I find it very offensive and annoying to see so many people (even some progressives) using it as an insult. Why in this age of tolerance and anti-ableism is it so common?

I used multiple social media platforms and I can say in medium confidence that downvotes are almost useless to see for users.

I'm a life-long Windows user who nowdays has a MacBook as a daily driver and a gaming PC running Linux. I consider myself somewhat tech savvy but holy fuck Linux just makes me want to tear my head off. I just spent 45 minutes trying to install Standard Notes "the right way" and in the end I just gave up and downloaded it from the Ubuntu store instead. Error, you need to add this repository. Error, you need to enable this feature. Error, you need to install this tool first which you can use to install another tool and that tool helps you fix the issue preventing you to solve the first issue etc. I honestly can't even imagine how you could make this any more difficult.

Every day, I see absolutely moronic comments getting upvoted while perfectly reasonable takes are downvoted. This would be a great opportunity to curate your feed by blocking these users en masse. Active curation like this is the only way to make social media even half-tolerable.

Many people enjoy discussing and judging the morals of characters in films, but that's not the main point. Very few characters are entirely good or entirely evil, which tends to result in dull and poorly made movies. Regardless of whether viewers resonate with the story, they should show compassion for the characters. It's important to interpret their motives and circumstances to understand what led them to make certain decisions and to reflect on ourselves.

The *best* conversations I still have are with real people, but those are rare. With ChatGPT, I reliably have good conversations, whereas with people, it’s hit or miss, usually miss.

I got myself a Mac for learning SwiftUi because I want to make an iPhone game. I got myself a used 16/256 M1 Air model that has 2 USB-C ports and that’s it.

There’s nothing wrong with criticism or calling out bad behavior. However, shouting “ACAB” in a thread about police violence, making jokes about beheading rich people, or throwing “muskrat” comments in discussions about Elon Musk, just to name a few examples, makes you an asshole and part of the reason why social media is so incredibly toxic.

I get that it started for free with less intrusive ads, but YouTube has had a huge impact on the way we all share and consume information. Understanding how much money it takes to run a service with the technology needed to provide high definition videos on a site that is up 99.9999999% of the time, I have no issue paying for a service that has changed my life in many positive ways. I just got permanently banned from a community for making a single harmless remark on a single post that was right there in the main feed. It’s not a community I’m super active in so it’s not like devastating, but it is annoying

Censorship is a real problem, but you don’t have to embrace it. That’s just making the problem worse.
