Old guy like me thinks everything interesting has been done with a drum and a guitar, and then young guys like this come out of their garage and prove me wrong. I love it!
Check out Mamaleek, discovering them was like hearing good music for the first time again. E.g. ‘Out of Time’ for trip-hopy stuff, ‘Come and See’ for noise-rock, ‘Diner Coffee’ for blues.
And regarding drums, I like dimsunk’s experiments.
I discovered these guys just two weeks ago and waddayouknow, they’re now gonna blow up because of this performance.
The guitarist is reminiscent of young Buckethead. I thought I’m stereotyping based on the outfit, but no: looked at another performance of theirs, and the movements remind me of the bucket man even more. Except this dude isn’t freakishly tall, of course.
Buckethead can slap the shit outta bass, btw, so they’re both multi-instrumentalists in this regard.
I thought the same thing! Maybe there’s something about playing in a mask that affects mannerisms?
Finally remembered that I know a few bands who perform in masks: Mamaleek, Monster Zoku Onsomb, The Berzerker, Boney NEM (probably parodying Tool). Glass Beams were in the recommendations for Angine de Poitrine.
They all are less restricted in their movement, though Glass Beams are pretty stiff for some reason. But Poitrines’ and Buckethead’s getup is more elaborate in the hat area, which might be a factor. However, I recently learned that Buckethead changes guitars without removing the hat.
Holy shit, I just came across these guys yesterday. Was like, fuckin Flying Microtonal Primus meets the Yellow Submarine movie. Had just watched this video no more than four hours ago.
Best music duo since Death From Above 1979
Good username, btw.
So cool. The performance and looks are a standout, of course. And the music still sounds good to my ears.
I felt such an idiot when I realized their band name translates to angina, I kept reading it as poutine for some reason.
Microtonal but with super catchy riffs, thumbs up from me.
This performance has just broke out for them.
I discovered this band recently with this same video, and it’s awesome, Angine de Poitine is my favorite band of 2026. New album is coming soon, check out “Fabienk”, it fucking slaps!
Their first album is good, but it feels so tame compared to their live performances. This KEXP performance and their TV performance are really solid.
Definitely a band that I will try to see live.
I can’t tell if I love microtonal music or hate it, but these guys have a cool vibe.
“Babe, what’s a microtonal guitar?
-It’s a guitar that cannot be in tune but still works somehow.”
These guys are a perfect storm. As AI rises and the most absolutely watered down garbage is reigning king, they show us what AI couldn’t in a billion iterations.

This is such a great musical duo. They’re very creative.
