Bob "Slim" Dunlap (August 14, 1951 – December 18, 2024) was an American rock musician. He was a Minnesota-based guitarist and singer-songwriter who was best known as a member of The Replacements from 1987 to 1991, replacing original lead guitarist Bob Stinson. Dunlap also recorded two solo albums in the mid-1990s. Dunlap died on December 18, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota after a 12 year battle with complications from a stroke he had suffered since 2012. Dunlap was 73 years old.

I saw the Leeds band, Sky Larkin, play live a few times during the time I lived in England. Therefore, I was delighted to find this.

Drunk Mums have been around for a while. I believe they started as a band in Brisbane, but like so many others, they have ended up based in Mebourne. I first stumbled onto them maybe 10 years ago. I took some overseas visitors out on a school night and we ended up at a rock venue called Cherry Bar, on AC/DC Lane. DMs were on one of their visits from Brisbane.

Thanks to @phant for pointing me in the direction of this current Melbourne band after I posted a track from a 90’s near namesake Melbourne band.

This band has a great sound. Admirers of stuff like Mazzy Star might find this up their alley.

Another Canberra formed band that seems to now be based in Melbourne.

I just discovered this band that hails from Canberra, Australia's capital. It seems that some of them are based in Melbourne, which is where this video was shot. IMO, this is the most alluring of their tracks that I can find. The chime of the guitars and the effervescent vocal delivery /lyrics, do it for me.

I'm only just catching up with this 2022 album.

This one makes me want to shotgun a Pilsner and hug all my buddies.
