New piefed feature , anyone can subscribe to any post or comment (piefed is a reddit and lemmy alternative)
codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/issues/20
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/15109471
This is a feature that as far as i know lemmy does not have, so it might be worth it to checkout and support piefed, it will probably be useful if there are certain topics that are really relevant to you and you want to develop in depth knowledge of.

Yea that’d be a handy feature to help keep conversations going. It’s too easy to forget about conversations you’re interested in if they’re not in your feed.
Is this using ActivityPub? I notice that the lead dev shares a username with a lemmy.world admin.
EDIT: yes it is I missed that it is already federated with Lemmy instances

@nutomic@lemmy.ml, do you know if this feature is possible for Lemmy, or perhaps already in the works? I had a quick look on the GitHub but couldn't find anything.
If you can't find anything on github about it, creating an Issue/Feature request (I think that's a label there) would probably a good idea
Here is the relevant issue, but no one is working on it currently.
Thanks for the link to the GitHub issue! Might there be any chance of prioritizing it for an upcoming release?
It seems like a feature which many users would find significant utility in. Since this post, there has already been another post inquiring about this feature.
As long as it federates, hey?
It does. This reply is from PieFed, and the vast majority of the content here has come from Lemmy via ActivityPub.
It's possible to use Lemmy clients with piefed? Tried boost and can't login.
Not yet, no. There's no API for clients like Boost to interact with. There's some discussion about one here
Tanks.
Love to see unique features for piefed. So many different ways to tackle "threadiverse" as a project and I think we're all better off with some experimentation
A valid alternative to lemmy is... any other part of the fediverse.
well, not if you want a UI that's designed around threads like Lemmy or Kbin does 🤔
point taken 👍
