And to think a while ago I declared I wouldn't have any reason to not take their bans (or the motives behind them) seriously.

Someone on Reddit has been saying someone has been able to report new members without proof and remove their threads by claiming to be the people they've reported. Out of curiosity, I tested this out. Turns out it checks out. For some reason, admins have allowed it to be possible. I found out my threads have been removed this way, so beware if you're banned from somewhere or your threads are removed. This is the same person who thinks she can compete with Fedilore on Tumblr after being banned from Fedilore's instance for signing up for KiwiFarms in order to prevent her friends from being backbitten on there before going on YouTube to complain about it.
Hello all, I hope you have been well and I wish I could say the same for myself. I am refraining from being pessimistic in this moment but as it stands I do not feel too good. This has nothing to do with my health or the health of anyone in my family. Although we're all physically well, what happened left me shocked and unable to process everything. So, for clarification, I was named in the feud but was never actually in the actual feud and am an observer, and can absolutely prove I was offline 100% of the time (deleted Lemmy comments linger, so it's not like I am erasing any involvement). I just happened to get namedropped as collateral damage (on another occasion, so did the Ask Lemmy mod Candyman337 simply for keeping Leni around, and Candyman337 wasn't in the feud either, and they are welcome to testify too). As an observer, this only made me want to observe it more though.

I've been interested to ask this after seeing so much happen in this community. *How would you define a troll?* The modlogs show many communities have rules against "trolling" but what is actually going on that makes it register with people.
A few days ago, I asked if we could talk about things that happen outside the fediverse. I got a lot of different answers ranging from "yes" to "no" to "it depends". Hunting someone down somewhere and saying "ah ha I found Zezima on X" isn't the kind of thing I meant. This is.
Suppose you have a fediverse admin, perhaps one of the several who are oppressive, and they are roaming around somewhere like Twitter or Reddit. One day they spot someone on there they don't like, maybe someone they know from the fediverse or maybe not, and they give the person a hard time. Are we allowed to talk about those activities, especially considering the barrier is already crossed the other way?
Forgive the vent, but it used to be that the instances were all simply opinionated in different ways. You could talk to anyone from any instance without anyone getting upset so as long as you were respectful. Being in an instance used to be enviable enough to jest about.
Most of the misinformation communities are easy to spot, but !collapse@lemm.ee falls into a slightly different category, and it presents itself in an unusual way. It seems like one of the main mods flavors his postings with a consistent sprinkling of posts that say that Europe not buying fossil fuels from Russia is a catastrophe for Europe, and they must reverse course as soon as possible and stop trying to depend on renewable energy, since it doesn't work.

Yesterday, an unexpected admin post was made announcing that hexbear would be shutting down and recreating two of their most popular communities (a): the_dunk_tank and dredge_tank. For those who are not aware, those two are some of the most notorious comms in the threadiverse which routinely cause inter-lemmy drama (disclaimer, the deteriorating relations between our instance and hexbear and my own ban from hexbear was ultimately triggered by various posts in the_dunk_tank)
It’s also funny that rather than removing all of my comments, they just decided to remove those I referenced and one particular reply, meaning whoever they were they cared more about the narrative and making the conversation unintelligible so that in the framing that was left people could just fill in the gaps just based on the downvotes and the accusations.
That moment when, if I ever get banned from the ML instance, one might as well tell me to treat it as an extension of the act of fleeing while entrusting Archive Today and the victim to relay this message (totally becoming of the spokespeople for the people’s liberation, /s also I would not voluntarily remove a thread of mine, so if this is gone by the time you get the archive…).
I’m trying to work out why there are posts in here about users being banned from communities, when neither the user or the community are under their control. Is this being mirrored from somewhere, or is this something that’s limited to what people on their instance see?
