“I asked for an attorney probably a hundred times and was never given one,” Saari said. “I was never told why I was being arrested.”
Then, Saari said, “They took my cell phone and cloned it. They actually told me they did that.”

He was wearing his Marine camouflage and carrying a lawfully owned 9mm Glock handgun on his right hip, as he does every day, he told The Intercept. Agents on the scene “thought I was undercover,” Saari said. “They kept asking what agency I was with.”
When Saari told them he was not with any agency, their demeanor shifted. Federal immigration agents soon aimed M4-style rifles at his head
(1) Its almost like its important to be able to clearly identify law enforcement.
(2) Seems like the opposite of de-escalation. The thing law enforcement is supposed to do.
GrapheneOS has a duress pin

I’m more concerned about them forcing his hand on his weapon, then giving him contradicting orders, then no lawyer was provided and finally the face scan and DNA collection. They violated so many constitutional rights after they were palling around and playing so nice when they thought he was undercover.
Terrifying
Always put your phone on lock down mode if the Nazis are nearby. If it ends up in their possession, do a remote wipe.
GrapheneOS is the way to go. It’s hardware limited to Google Pixel phones, but it is the most secure, privacy-oriented OS available to consumers. Yes, you’re using google hardware, but Graphene sandboxes all apps, de-googles the experience by default, and even if you choose to use some google apps it sandboxes them to limit the data they can pull from you.
And you can set up a pin code which, when entered on the unlock screen, erases the device instead of unlocking it.
I want a phone, not a hobby. I tried installing on a old Samsung phone and got lost at the 3rd step.
GrapheneOS only runs on Pixel phones, with the Pixel 6 being the oldest Pixel phone supported, so you must be mistaken and tried an alternative OS. FWIW, GrapheneOS is very easy to install.
I found some forums that say the Samsung Note 10 works but there is a bunch of hoops you gotta do to make it work.
Does seem like he could’ve done much here. They took it and cloned it without even asking him to unlock it. Doubt they gave him much of an opportunity to wipe it before doing that, and wiping the original once they have a copy doesn’t accomplish anything.
An alternative approach is having a dedicated burner phone for filming them. No personal information, no need to lock, and filled to the brim with butthole pictures.
Sampled his DNA? WTF is that for? Nobody has a DNA lock on their phone.
if you plan on going to any kind of protest, ideally leave your phone at home, maybe bring walkies if you’re with a small group…. otherwise lockdown is 2nd best, but if you bring phone with, use faraday pouch

Disgusting? Yes. Problematic? Indeed. Shocking? No.
