PieFed help

My understanding so far after a couple days is that joining a community gets it to show up on your front page but has no effect on it displaying under topics.

Is anyone else having this issue? I notice when I upvote something if I come back to it later it looks like I didn't upvote. At first I thought upvotes weren't persisting but I think its an issue with the upvote arrow color not persisting. The behavior I observed is you upvote a comment or post it goes from blue to green and the upvote count increases. Refresh the page and the upvotes all reverted back to blue but the count is still the same. Upvote again and the arrow stays blue but the upvote count decreases.

So I post everyday in comicstrips and I noticed I did not see my friday post. I checked my moist mbin instance and it shows there. The only thing I can think of is the threshold settings for replies but I did not think that effected posts. How doe we set that to unlimited? Im guessing maybe zero?

I block communities I have no interest in. Like sports. Is that possible in piefed?

Is there a way to pin or make sticky a post from a federated account? My community is local to piefed.social but I would like to pin a post from a user on a different instance.

Sorry to be a bother, and maybe I'm just missing something obvious. I posted something to !3dprinting@lemmy.world, and I can see it from PieFed, but not from lemmy.world. Not sure if it's maybe a federation issue, or on who's side. I've never had any trouble before, even to this same community.

I was following the instructions here (https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/src/branch/main/INSTALL.md#cdn) about adding Cloudflare tokens. I am unsure where to find the API token for CLOUDFLARE_ZONE_ID. The only things I am seeing are Global API Key and Origin CA Key and I was wondering if it's one of those now. It seems like Cloudflare is constantly changing and moving things which gets confusing sometimes.

I've decided to try installing PieFed with Docker again and I was finally able to log in now without a CSFR Token warning. I was able to test federation with the remote server scan and that seems to be working. I was also able to create a text post just fine but when I tried to post a picture to my own instance, I got the following error:

Is private voting still working? I can see that the setting now specifies that it will only use the anonymized voting account when sending the vote to *untrusted* instances. However, when checking from sh.itjust.works, which doesn't appear on the list of trusted instances, I can still see my votes are not anonymized. So either it's not working properly, or sh.itjust.works is actually labeled as a trusted instance despite not appearing on this list.

Hi, I'm just starting out with self hosting and I am currently working on a project meant to serve a small town that I live in. What I would like to do is host a small social media site from a Rapsberry Pi 5. I'm not expecting to have a lot of people using it so I'm not pressured about the hardware requirements at this point in time.

I subscribe to really many communities to always have some new content to look at. I also have some communities which I'm particularly interested in which sadly are quite low volume like !korea@lemmy.funami.tech !vaeter@feddit.org and !piefed_meta@piefed.social The problem is now that I most of the time miss posts from those communities because they are such low volume.

I should have thought to ask this earlier, sorry. This is only the beta test of the software, and I just recently noticed the instance isn't super active so far. It occurred to me that maybe y'all aren't ready for anyone to treat this as home just yet? I've installed PyFedi and did the things outlined in the INSTALL.txt

When I go to Admin -> Site Profile -> Icon and choose a .webp or a .png picture and click the Save button at the bottom, I get a message at the top Settings saved. but the Icon is not changed anywhere. Not in the top left, not the favicon and so on. Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding the functionality?

Hello, i am just having a look around piefed. I was surprised to find out that my main account has a low rep. It wasn't easy to find another person with low rep, actually only was able to find one other after briefly looking for it. Now i am kind of offended, haha.

1- Is it possible to search communities?

I'm trying to add my PieFed account to Memmy (an iOS Lemmy client). I was able to add my midwest.social account as expected.

I just tried to create an account, JoeGermuska but got an error that the username was in use.

I assume we should be able to follow PieFed accounts from other fediverse servers? Our user here would be @[HTML_REMOVED]@piefed.social ?
