Hello. I thought I could use my Lemmy login details to log into PieFed, but it isn’t working and had to create a separate account. Can you please clarify?
Hello! I’ve got a very peculiar person who is currently accusing Me of lying about My pronouns, and saying I changed them within the last two hours to try and trick them. It’s very strange.
Hi gang! I’ve seen these icons for awhile, but I’ve always been curious on what they really mean. When I hover over these icons, the tooltip reads Very low reputation. Beware! But, this particular user’s posts were all upvoted to some degree. Why would these icons be added if the user has posts in the positive? And why are there two of them?
When I click my profile and view comments, nothing shows up. I’m assuming this was because my most recent comment was over a year ago. Going to test it by commenting on this post. But seems like a bug, the profile tab should show all comments and posts, not just from the past year.
I created this community yesterday. A few folks joined, and now the count sits at 46 subscribers with <46 local subscribers on any Lemmy instance I visit (here or here for instance). But on Piefed, it’s 16 subscribers and 17 local 🙂
I made the following post: https://piefed.social/c/gothindustrial/p/1810616/cultural-death-by-verin around 11am EST. However, 4 hours later it still hasn’t shown up on other instances, ex: https://lemmy.world/c/gothindustrial According to the Federation Health overview everything’s caught up.
Sorry if this is a dumb question. How do I go back to where I was in my feed after clicking on a story?
I see there are options at the top like, Home, Community, etc, but how do I get back to where I was?
i honestly am very confused, i tried to make a post in a community and i got this 503 error page and then when i went to the main piefed.social page i was logged out and when i tried to log back in i got the 503 error page and now no matter what i just get the error page u less i turn on a vpn? its only on my other phone though? the phone im using now works fine with no vpn but the other one only works with a vpn. i even tried clearing the cache and all the site data but its still the 503 error without the vpn on. does anyone know how i can fix this?
I imported my Lemmy account but noticed some blocked people weren’t transferred over. Most of the ones that didn’t cross over seem to be from specific instances, such as kbin.social, leminal.space, etc. But one was from lemmy.ml; others were imported fine but one user was not for some reason. There’s around four dozen blocked accounts and I didn’t check them all but it seems like most made it over.
I tried out so far voyager and interstellar. It seems that both don’t support hashtags. I can see them but I cannot click on them like the web version.
I tested on two browsers, the latter without any “protection” or addons, and I tried the same post on a Lemmy instance, where it’s fine. It’s clearly not happening on my side, and OP didn’t do anything wrong either.
This is a new issue which only started within the past few days. I’m completely unable to login to piefed.social via qutebrowser with the only error in the console showing something related to cloudflare with “access denied”
I have a community on the piefed.zip server, and I schedule posts to go out at a future time. When I look at the list of scheduled posts, they’re in a seemingly random order. Am I missing a way to organize the list, preferably in chronological order?
As far as I’m aware, a person can crosspost on Lemmy very easily. There’s a copy button that lets them copy the entirety of the post content. Puts the body in quotes, preserves the alt text and title and links and the like, and all they have to do is change community and now it’s in another community.
With the help of other users here I have finally been able to get a PieFed instance up and running! I am running 1.5.3 (Docker install) and I’ve run into one small problem…trying to manually purge deleted posts always redirects to a page indicating that an error has occurred, the post is not purged. I am not sure how I would go about debugging this, but I will certainly provide any additional information that one might need. I appreciate all the help, the best part about the fediverse for me has to be the community! 👍
I’ve successfully gotten PieFed up and running in its docker iteration and with help from folks here, I’m now backing things up as they should be! I noticed that cron is reporting an error in one of the scripts that is being called though, here is an example of the e-mail that I am receiving:
As the topic would suggest I’ve run into another problem with PieFed…I have Mailgun set up as my SMTP host for password resets and the like, the password to my knowledge is correct as I’ve tested the configuration out in a separate Python script and it logged into smtp.mailgun.org successfully on port 587.
Keep hitting nginx error 413 Request Entity Too Large when attempting to upload an image with alt text to !NiceMemes@sopuli.xyz as a piefed.zip user. Wondering if this is a piefed.zip or piefed in general limit, since if I run to my original account at @emotional_series7814@kbin.melroy.org the post goes through.
I’m the moderator of a community I created on Lemmy (/c/Delorean) and I’d like to add my piefed account as a moderator. Is this possible at all? I tried posting from this account to that community but I don’t see an option to add myself as moderator even though I’m logged in as my Lemmy account. Is this possible at all??
I’d like to switch MULTIVERSE to require registration approval, at least temporarily during periods of lower staff availability, but I don’t think anyone on our instance is receiving emails at the moment, and notifying users that their application has been approved is something I want to get working before requiring applications. I haven’t received My verification email.
I frequently fat-finger both selecting the emoji icon and the X to close it, which results in accidentally hitting whatever emoji is closest to the X on random posts/comments. Is there a way to remove this reaction once I’ve done it? I know I can change the reaction to a different one, but if there’s a way to completely remove it I’m missing it.
Have some instances and specific users blocked which seems to work fine in web version but not in apps. This seems to affect comments only as posts from those users and their profiles are hidden properly.
I plan on using docker compose. Are there any security risks (other than the obvious of using a VLAN and reverse proxy) that I should know about? If I use a reverse proxy (say, either hosted in a colo hosting provider or Cloudflare), does federation still work properly?

Hi all - as always, love Piefed, hate to complain - but I noticed this week that I used to have 3 Scheduled Posts, all going to the DailyGames community, and now I just have 1:
I want to increase the default quota of 50MB. Since I’m selfhosting a single user PieFed instance, I want to be able to use more space on my server for uploads.
I feel like I’ve clicked everything looking for the ability. Clicked on the username, clicked on the little hamburger menu, checked every icon above and below the comment. What am I missing?
I see a lot of communities that had no interaction in years. Also some community creators/moderators are inactive in the Threadiverse since the creation of the community.
I’m using the latest versions of Voyager and Interstellar from the App Store on iOS 26.2. If I go to my account and try to view my previous posts, only one is displayed, and oddly it’s not even the most recent one. It’s the same single post on both apps
Hello!
I’ve recently started self-hosting piefed and federation seems to be working well! I can find communities, post to communities and the data is synced between instances.
However, when I select the local filter on my personal instance, nothing shows up. I can’t seem to find a way to mirror the post locally without setting up a community and reposting it there. But wouldn’t that duplicate data as the original image is already stored locally?
On Lemmy I mainly used scaled in the subscription list and enjoyed that quite a bit. In Piefed it quickly shows me posts from many months ago and just seems useless. Is there something I can do to ‘tune’ this or does it work differently than lemmy?
Hey all, it seems I’ve not kept up on the instance updates and ran into a problem when looking to move several versions today. I’m currently sitting on 1.1.7, went through trying both the script and the manual steps (which look to be the same functionally) and get a consistent error every time at step 4/10
Is signing up with email forced by devs? I would like to sign up for piedfed but I don’t like to include my email for, well, anything psuedo-anonymouse like social networking. I haven’t been able to find any instances that don’t require email (my preferred is piefed.ca)
