Hey folks. It's me, VubDapple. I'm a (not so active but still present) mod for this community and also a mental health professional. Recently there was some upset at this young community's rule about posts concerning suicide. I thought I'd offer a few thoughts about suicide and where things seem to stand right now. Sorry for the delay in my response; things have been rather busy in my life.

1) Helping someone across the street

I have always thought that I have felt emotions much more strongly than others. At baseline, I don’t feel a whole lot of positive or negative, but a stimulus easily puts me into overdrive, like the volume knob on the stereo suddenly gets maxed out and the gas pedal gets stuck down.

So I work in a carehome and am relatively new to it, previously worked in dom care. I (M) was doing a double up with another carer (F) and we moved the resident (F) from her chair to her bed and cleaned her up, changed her pad, dressed her then we were repositioning the resident and when they were rolled towards me they put their hand on my back.

Is there anywhere as ableist as my family’s “social circle”? Like… anyone who acts slightly “weird” just get labled my language’s equivalent of [the r-word]. Social awkwardness as an adult, neurodivergence, especially autism, they all get labeled in this one category of “the stupids”. Idk what the fuck my parents keep talking to, but they say back in their village (idk if father’s or mother’s), there is a family where the mother died, and the the son, “went crazy/stupid” (emphasis on the quotation marks), so, my mom keeps projecting that fear on me, she thinks I would be a failure like that person. I think there are like a lot of these similar stories that gets spread around from other villages.

I had this girlfriend “K”. K was always breaking up with me over something or just overall being distant. She, today, told me she’s not good at showing affection and is not ready to have a boyfriend. She said she would like to be good friends with me, though. :)

Hi. It’s been a while since I’ve been really active on this platform. Hoping to change that now. I felt like I was on a one way downward spiral around the time that I disappeared from this place. Needed to tell someone that might understand what is happening in my life and I felt like this would be a good return post around here, so I hope this is the appropriate community for it. Feels appropriate.

This happens infrequently to me, almost always when I’m in conversation and I can’t find the word I want. It feels like my brain pauses and I can’t bring myself out of it. I still have a sense of time passing, but other than that I’m blank.

some time during the middle of the year in 2024 i reached my highest weight of 363 lbs. i am a 5’9” male. i was morbidly obese and i could feel the effects of it. i wasn’t always this big. in fact, i only started gaining weight around the age of 10. i suffered long-term abuse and one of my coping mechanisms was to eat. my mother only attempted to control my habit but never gave any real effort about it. i was able to eat whatever and whenever. to be fair, she was dealing with the worst of it.

First…I am NOT an anti-meds person, but I don’t believe that everyone should just be on them. My friend has schizophrenia and absolutely needs her meds. It’s scary when she’s off them because of how negatively it impacts her life.

I feel very strange, I feel like I’ve woke from a very long dream. It feels like everything has changed, though I know nothing has. It’s weird, it feels like the me of yesterday isn’t the me of today. But I know I’m the same as before. Worries I had are gone and I don’t see why I worried to begin with. I do have depression, anxiety, OCD, and autism so that might be related. If I woke tomorrow feeling as I do today or as I felt yesterday I don’t know if i’d be disappointed or not. I feel neutral. I’m not freaking out or anything, I feel relatively calm for a change. Anyone else have any similar experiences? It may sound like I’m high but I’m not.

i go to bed earlier and earlier. i lie in bed most of the day. my girlfriend got me into thinking video games are the only good coping mechanism and i don’t even wanna play those.

I made this as an intro for new unlicensed / entry level psych workers whose jobs did not give them an adequate introduction to serious mental illness, but since none of the interventions are actually medical, it’s not a bad intro for laypeople either (and I basically never see people give tips for helping people with more severe mental illness). Some of the vids mention treatments but less in a “how to treat” and more of in a “how to support treatment.” This guide assumes that the person is already at the correct / safest level of care they need, but obviously you would want to seek (more) professional help if you are worried they are a threat to themselves or others. There are a few specific situations mentioned here that should raise extra alarms though. There’s both videos and some helpful points typed out under each one (it may help to disable media previews for readability). Hope this helps and that you find it interesting!

ever since the US election last november i have been on a downward spiral (lol nine inch nails) that has not let up. in fact, it has gotten so bad that i am going in-patient at my local hospital on Monday to be cleared for entry into a 90-day residential program for behavioral health.

Hi all. One of my biggest issues is emotional dysregulation.

I called 911 for the first time ever back in February of this year due to my first manic episode. I was stoned 24/7 for a month straight after being illegally fired from my job. I was also smoking one of those mystery “mushroom” vapes during this time.
