Planted about 4 years ago, and gets dead headed every year. It started out as a multi coloured plant, down to just the one colour now.

The 1st flower wilted away....see it there in the left. The 2nd flower appeared and is much bigger and healthier. Waiting to see if I get any fruit here.

Happy Saturday all! I’m growing corn for the second year in my little raised bed and I’m trying it from seed this time. It’s mostly gone well and some of them are to the point I should cull them down to one sprout a spot, but I was wondering if it would be feasible to transplant the second highest stalk on each to fill in spots none of them sprouted from. If so, any tips on the process?

Was so happy to see my sad, under-soiled tomato plant putting out flowers, but it's also attracted aphids! I'm too poor to even afford pesticides, and was planning on growing organic anyways, but I'm not getting any help with pest predators from the surrounding apartment environment (cropped lawn grass and dandelions)

Planted Pink Ladies along with Red California Poppy to bring some life to my front yard. I've grown tired of the mono lawns I've seen and wanted to spruce things up.

And that, right there, is why I garden.

my don't murder anyone over that last zoom call walking path is coming along nicely this spring.

So I bought some wildflower mixture, and they recommend to thin/blend with sand so you can see where you broadcast and go see it easier. So I took one step further and added clover as well.

They're a bit more leggy than I think is healthy, but hopefully repotting them will help.

It's been a while since I've grown anything. With everything that's happening in the world I decided to restart doing things for myself.

Spent the day playing around with little bolts to put this together. Should extend my growing window by a month, won’t be able to extend end of season I think though.

It's been about 2 weeks since I took the 1st image I posted. This is today. The flower is looking kind of sad. Does this look normal? Does anyone know how to tell if it will fruit up by looking ?

I have multiple eggplants in pots inside my screens. They are all flowering, but none are producing actual eggplants. Am I missing something?

This is my 2nd time ever trying to grow any kind of plants. I planted what I thought was lemon balm and dill seeds. Last night I was looking up groth stages of lemon balm and realized my plants look nothing like lemon balm. The seed packet I got also has seeds for sweet dani basil, and after looking at those I'm thinking that's what these are. I'm just wondering if maybe someone here might know and be able to tell me?

My prickly pear plant (Opuntia microdasys) fell over in the wind today and a paddle broke off. Luckily it was a clean cut so I decided to just drop it into a pot and hope it grows!

Raspberries are escaping their raised bed after two years :( I really don't want them to spread beyond it. what to do? Bury a tarp under the mulch? Dig a trench around the bed? Roundup?

Hello Earth Shepard's! Waiting patiently for some harvests to come in. So far I've been plucking away at my lemon trees to make lemonade (tried wine, but for health sake I'm sticking to lemonade) until everyone else catch up.

Still not out of the woods for frost, but I transplanted the non hardened broom corn and planted some more seeds with them. I also transplanted a couple Marigold and Nasturtium starts with some seeds as well.

They're getting so tall! With neat little leaves!

Consequences of still going hard, but not being able to install a greenhouse this year. These have taken over two 3x3 grow tents and then some.

You can buy shot dispensers, that dose a certain amount of liquid (usually 20 ml) with each pour, and then make your own stock solution for your fertilizer.

I have found that this rhubarb has been a great companion for the apple tree as it shades the roots and competes well with the weeds such as the incessant and detestable buttercups

Anyone know how long this little Gaillardia pulchella, firewheel guy will take to go from where it's at, to fully bloomed?

It’s my understanding that a bunch of root vegetables like carrots, daikons, turnips, parsnips, rutabagas, etc. all grow their first year to store energy for the second years seeding.

These are onion starts that I planted last spring in a garden bed I hadn’t properly cleaned up last fall.

In the picture there’s a good assortment of 6-8 week starts. In no particular order there is; marigolds, nasturtiums, onions, broom corn (6” pots), zinnias, 8 or so tomato and pepper variety’s. Some of the tomatoes and peppers are mixed between the domes and the cups.

The box I cobbled together from old pallets, dirt is a mix of potting soil and local dirt spiced with chicken poo.

Nothing special, just some potting soil and some cups.

We are the proud owners of a Valencia Orange, lime, and lemon tree!! I just repotted this one from the container it came in. Hopefully we’ll get some fruit this year?

based on the smell and allergic reaction i just had. im guessing its strawberry mint i was gifted that jumped pots before i could murder it all last summer.

Flowers starts are starting fantastically!

I'm so excited! Some of them are doing the thing! Now I just gotta hope they survive the outdoors once they get there! The scarier part!

First time trying to grow anything from seed by myself. Fingers crossed it works out!

I’m in the midst of getting my planning done, 8 week starts need to get started next week for last frost at end of May.

This is the thing that got me into grafting. These trees are just wild to me.

Materials:

Starting up 18 varieties of tomatoes, after creating some more bed space for this year. It's so nice to sit down and take some time to start the seeds 🌱

Our apple tree wasn't doing much of anything (it barely even ever flowered), so I finally cut it down and bark grafted 3 different varieties onto it - Liberty, Ashmead, and Cox Orange Pippin. These should all be able to pollinate one another. We also have a Honeycrisp tree nearby that should benefit from this, too.

I see many guides online which start with a new plant. This is what mine looks like and it's been here for years, so I'm not sure if i can guide it into a tree anymore. If so, i guess now that it started budding would be a good time to trim everything but the leader?

I've had this guy in a pot for years. We're finally getting some fat juicy lemons off of it!

When I asked this community two weeks ago if I should prune or pinch my avocado tree, I was expecting maybe one or two of the meristem bits to start growing. Instead I got five.

Zone 10B. I forgot the variety of these, either Velvet Queen or just a generic red sunflower variety. The only red sunflower I managed to grow successfully so far compared to the regular kind.

As nicely as this avocado tree is growing, it does need to be prompted to start branching out at some point. If I prune off those top baby leaves and leave the two nodes intact, will it start branching from both, or only one?

So stoked to see my tomatoes coming through. These are the beefsteak variety as I'm waiting for my Black Krim to sprout. I decides to go hard on producing more veggies and fruits since I been lollygagging on getting around to starting up my raised beds. Got a no til plot that should be ready to plant in, just undecided if I should give that plot to my tomatoes or to corn? What would y'all do? Growing anything juicy this season?

This is the entrance to the "wild" part of our garden. I'm lucky to have access to woodland close by that the council haven't maintained, so there were lots of branches from past storms this winter. The plan is to grow honeysuckle either side and hope it covers most of it, providing food and shelter along with the hedgerow I've planted on the left behind the ladder. The pond I posted earlier last year is made out of an old water tank someone was throwing out.

Just got and planted my Christmas gift from work yesterday. A dwarf pear tree, can't wait for spring to plant lavender, rosemary, strawberry and other flowers around it. But the rest of the garden is still a bit messy

We moved into this house about a year ago. I've been making an effort to have a mix of wild and cottage vibes for the garden, as this was our first winter I've been able to get some decent designing down. Last year was a bit of a panic as we didn't know how the sun would lay and with moving in, our planting was done really late. But this year is the year I establish hedges as even though we're in a wood no one has anything in their front gardens and not much in the rear including mine.

It's tiny but it smells amazing. Can't wait to try it.

It's their first year of life still so I'm keeping them indoors, under light this winter. I'm cutting back some on light and water until spring though.
