I'm playing this game for literal months, hyperfixating on it for some weeks until I get into frustration cycle and abandon it for months.

There are obviously a wide range of philosophies companies have when it comes to both intellectual property and modding communities that tend to spring up around successful video games. Some are jealous protectors of all things IP, which is generally a giant mistake that limits the reach, the fun, and the engagement these companies should be having with their biggest fans. The other is one that is more lenient or even celebratory of the harmless use of these fan-works. But rarely do we see the dichotomy at work in one specific instance.

Been working on trying to beat this damn game for months. I was stalling out on 2300m for a long while, and finally just gave in and looked up a hint online. I avoid walkthroughs as much as I can, but I just had to suck it up this time because I was about ready to just throw in the towel. Glad I did, since once I got past 2300m the rest was a cinch. I have to say that 2300m was still the most difficult stage, everything past that point was hard but not quite as hard as getting past that one. All it took was almost 800 deaths (눈_눈)

This uses my X4-SimPit extension for X4: Foundations, that sends ship telemetry via a socket to my node-red plumbing pipeline, which in turn forwards data to Websockets, SocketIO and MQTT. Various subscriber listen on the new messages to run blinken lights and my HUD app. I’m using the well known message format also used by Elite Dangerous so it’s compatible with that game as well.

Frogwares has just launched their Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2, a Lovecraftian survival horror set in Arkham. "Set in an eerie, Lovecraftian reimagining of 1920s America, The Sinking City 2 is a narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2025."

Today I've reported a player in Marvel Rivals for being a cheater (it was obvious to me, even autoaim through wall playing hawkeye). And I just got a confirmation message that the player is banned until 2125... basically a 100 year ban. :D Do report them. Report toxicity as well (I get ton of confirmation). But do not report because you are angry or maybe the other player played well. It's the first time I reported someone in Marvel Rivals for cheating.

It's still meme monday in my TL i swear to you mods

It's been a while since I looked at a main series Pokémon game and thought, "That looks nice." This includes last week's full reveal of Pokémon Legends Z-A, which going from the first bit of footage seems to feature a lot of hazy-edged grey rooftops, futurist UI, and eerily smooth NPCs, and not a lot of consistent, nice-to-look-at art direction to tie it together. This is also a shame. First, because - and I don't think it's too controversial to say this - it's good, generally speaking, when things look nice. Glad we've got that established.

Medium update: Bugfixes, much faster rendering, new beautiful inifinite background terrain with triangles, player spaceship is always on top.

It sounds basic, but it was refreshing to hear a developer talk about their multiplayer shooter in terms of custom lobby rules and scaring the pants off your buds instead of metas and MMR. We're in something of a golden age of co-op games about getting scared with your friends—Lethal Company and Phasmophobia made proximity chat a mainstream feature, and one of the best-selling games on Steam right now is another co-op thriller called R.E.P.O.—but the trend hasn't caught on in casual PvP shooters. If Midnight Murder Club was released 20 years earlier, it probably would've been a Source mod with a small but vibrant server culture.
