Edit: I found it it occurred somehow when remapping modifiers with my keyd configuration. I remapped it to CTRL ALT ] and it works now.

I didn't find many comparisons between the two let alone a recent one. So they're both packages for changing Firefox prefs for better performance and or privacy. I'm interested in applying them to Zen Browser. Can you provide detailed comparisons and if I should you use both?

Having switched to Zen Browser, something I miss with Firefox was its stability. I find myself looking up Zen browser bugs and workarounds too much. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I'm downgrading Zen versions due to a bug in the stable version, I never had to do so during my years on Firefox. Devs on Github making an app on their free time have can't spend as long on QA as a multi-mullion dollar organization.

Ok with all the talk about #Mozilla #Firefox and their latest updates to their ToS, I want to remind everyone that #privacy is not convenient and if it's convenient is not private. Yes it sucks too much not to have the same browser in pc versus phone, however it that is what it takes, so be it. Also, as many people have rightfully expressed, us removing full support without voicing concerns with @mozillaofficial @firefox is shooting ourselves int he foot and removing the chances of forks like #librewolf #tor to keep working towards improvements.

What the title says, specifically I am wondering about floorp.

I've been working on switching from macOS to Linux. I tried moving my Firefox profile (actually Zen Browser but I don't think it makes a big difference) but it was very laggy when opening, and addons didn't work. So I'm just gonna do it the safe way: exporting my session with Tab Session Manager, places.sqlite file (which contains browsing history), bookmarks, addon data, and using syncing. I'm wondering how well copy and pasting the profile folder between OSes worked for other users.

I use Fennec F-Droid (This does apply to normal ff mobile). When I hold the space key of the onscreen keyboard to control the cursor in a website's input field it doesn't move character by character but word by word. Is there a flag in about:config that changes it to go character by character instead? Their implementation is buggy and painful for me and the sole reason for why I feel forced to use Brave 😭 pls help

Chrome and Edge make it simple to 'install' pages, so they're easy to pin to the task bar. PWAs for Firefox gives that capability to Firefox, but it's a bit brittle, and breaks easily if Firefox updates. It's broken again for me tonight and the usual 'reinstall this reinstall that' hasn't fixed it.

When you have the choice of multiple addons/extensions that can perform a certain task, is there a way to monitor their system resource use? To select the one which is the leanest.

Is there a way either through an add on or through settings to force a website shortcut to open as a web app? I have issues with a lot of sites that are designed as web apps. I've even worked with developers who said that the website is designed and meets all the criteria of a web app. Firefox Mobile seems to not recognize or disregard this information sometimes.

Solution: I just needed to disable Firefox Color in about:addons.

I often open articles/wiki pages wanting to skim them for information, and sometimes Ctrl+F is not enough to quickly find what I'm looking for. I wish I could type in prompts like "What city did it happen in?" (or just "city"), or eg. "public response", and it would highlight the phrase/sentence/paragraph of the article that is the most relevant. I imagine it's probably possible with LLMs today. Does anyone know if an extension like this exists yet? (if not for firefox then for chrome for the time being)

I don't want text to be unloaded from pages because then I can't see all the results on the CTRL F box. This happens on Discourse forums and New New Reddit (its too bad they removed the 2018 redesign).

For instance, you can go to chrome://browser/content/places/places.xhtml in a browser tab to see the bookmarks and history manager. That link opens the bookmarks, I wonder if there's a URL that opens the history manager directly instead.

As Firefox is by far my most used app, I find that bookmarking the current tab and describing the task with no more than a few words or even as little as a few chars, to be a good way to keep track of what things I need to do soon. For things I would get to later or whenever I feel like it, I'll put them in Firefox's "Boookmarks Menu" or "Other Bookmarks" folders, and have lots of folders consisting of Reddit posts and searches about different topics.

I recently started using firefox and was very frustrated with how large the UI was, how it autofilled entire URLs while i was trying to search something, and how it changed my system's titlebar buttons (minimize, maximize, close) to windows ones when I changed the theme from the default. I just found out about about:config and was able to solve every major issue i had with firefox literally within minutes, so why do they hide most of the settings?
