Yes you can monitor which app eats what, and probably circumvent this with a vpn layer, but sometimes I just wish I would be able to pause an app's access to the net

My phone screen is shattered, totally un-usable. When I plug it into my computer (Linux Mint) it is recognized but I can not enter pin to unlock the screen and also USB debugging is not enabled :(

So, like it says on the tin: I want to try GrapheneOS on my next new-to-me phone, which practically limits me to the Pixel series. And my price point will likely limit me further.

There are lots of apps that can export messages to HTML and other formats, but after doing some searching I didn’t find any for markdown. I know SMS are mostly text but markdown is a plain text file format which support text formats like bullets, headings, and media (usually by referencing image, video, or audio files in the same folder or in a sub-folder). That would be nice for reading and searching through in apps like Obsidian.

Really only interested in something like Graphene, Lineage, or a Linux mobile tablet that can work with a typical Linux distro and display over USB-C. It is just a casual conversational ask. Maybe one of y'all has tried or knows the answer. I won't use anything that runs google stuff or is a pain to load a custom ROM.

I don't use Google account on most of my devices. I have an older phone on LineageOS 22.1 that I use mainly to test apps. It has GApps installed but I never sign in. I have faced a couple apps that on startup are launching the PlayStore app and ask me to sign in, I guess for "security". Is there a way to bypass that ? I don't want to link my Google profile and would love to use this app offline like I should.

Because, we have here something called "Swiss Qr Bill" (standardized e-bill with Qr code) and some shops send you the bill via email. Would be nice, if i could just tap the qr-image and open with app.

Apk extractor from F-Droid doesn't seem to work. App in question is Typewise Offline (android keyboard with hex-shaped keys).

If I connect my laptop to a Wi-Fi hotspot provided by the phone? Is there a way to let me SSH into the laptop via an IP address?

Was doing multiple things at the time, so not sure about this—I think I restarted it but then it wouldn't start up again. Holding down the power button didn't help, nor did holding down the power button along with either the up or down volume for a few seconds. Plugging it in, it does make the "started charging" noise or whatever.

I use rsync normally but I want something similar for my Android (GrapheneOS) smartphone. I want to just click and backup everything that I set up earlier. For now I manually copy folders to one and then upload it to external drive. What are your recommendations?

Is there any solution to configure termux to use system default theme instead of what i setup using termux styling app? Even a basic option to set different themes for different modes will help l, so that i can configure it to switch to zenburn when system is in Dark mode and Google light when in light mode.

I followed the recommended processes for adding images to my app, and it is being displayed correctly on the layout preview, but not at all on the app. I have vector assets, webp, png images, but none are being displayed.

Basically one day all of a sudden I lost all mobile network, can't receive SMS, calls, etc, can't use mobile data, nothing.

Hackers Keyboard has that via ctrl+z, but only in horizontal mode. For this only i had my Galaxy S3 in horizontal per default. But can't do that with modern phones' aspect ratio and i'm missing undo since then.

I have an older Samsung Galaxy A3 with an already unlocked bootloader (it comes pre-unlocked) that I want to clean & root. I have a few apps like firefox, some games, DraStic, notesnook, etc. as well as my music. I want to keep all of this of course bug remove all the other bloat i dont need. I dont want a custom ROM or anything. The samsung ROM is good enough (android 6.0.1) I am very unaure on the process though & I dont want my old phone to get bricked so I’d appreciage it if somebody helped me out here, thanks.

I’ve read the reviews of the merchant selling the phone, looked into ratings and asked some questions about the condition of the phone, so I’m sure of my purchase on that end.

I have a Pixel 6 Pro (fully stock) who's wallpaper was migrated from an old S series Samsung. The wallpaper is a photo I took many years ago that I can't seem to find, so the wallpaper is the last remaining copy that I have. Where can I find the photo and/or how can I extract it so that I cam back it up?

I want to start learning android dev and I understand that I’ll need the android sdk and cli tools. I want to try it in a kvm because even though it is open source, I would like to keep it separate from my main system. Which distro and vm settings do you suggest I use? Any other tips or your experience with android development on linux would be helpful as well.

I really love solitaire, and I'm looking for a good looking FOSS app. Ideally it should have Klondlike and Napoleon's Tomb. I currently am using the Simple Solitaire Collection( link found here ), which is good but doesn't look very modern.

Back in 2007-ish I told my Mum all about how you could jailbreak iphones and unlock them to make the phone with other carriers. I helped alleviate any concerns by convincing her and myself that if there are any problems after the procedure, nothing physically has been changed on the phone and as long as I made a backup first, we could always switch back.

You'd think this would be easier than it seems to be in reality. I am interested in getting a Sony Xperia 5V or Xperia 1V. Where I live, phones can't make calls unless they support VoLTE. The phones in question support basically all the bands I need them to support and I've found several encouraging Reddit posts from people saying they got the Xperia 1V to work here (haven't found any for the 5V). Some confirm VoLTE, others simply say they were able to make calls. The VoLTE requirement for phones is very recent with different carriers killing off their 3G networks at slightly different times the latest being about a month away so it's hard to judge how much I can trust those posts. I've also seen a video from what seems to be an Indian person showing you how to enable VoLTE on a 1V.

I'm trying to make sure that if I import a phone to my country, it will likely work pretty much wherever I may go here. Most phones I'm looking at support every 4G band operated here, but I've noticed that on the GSM arena website, they will often give a list of supported bands for a given phone followed by a dash and a region name like 'Asia' or 'international' or 'USA'. One of the supported bands I'm looking at is operated in my country, but seems to be pretty rare, if I use that as a criterion the list of devices shrinks considerably as does the number of brands to choose from. One particular phone I looked at only lists support for the specific band I'm looking at in it's "-USA" list of supported bands. I'm confused by what this means for me, if that band is used in my country and I import a phone that only lists the band as supported in the US does that mean the phone wouldn't work here if I'm in an area where the only available tower operated on such a frequency? Why not? It sounds like it's physically capable.

This used to just be how it worked, I don't know what changed. I have for a long time used VLC to navigate to files on my computer in the other room so I can stream video to my phone that are stored on the computer.
