I love Rex Krueger’s videos, and I was thinking about his planing stop while cleaning up in the shop when i happened upon my collection of ‘dull and/or burnt reciprocating tool blades that I won’t throw away because who knows’ and it occured to me that these are the same shape, and rough size as a screwdown planing stop, while conveniently fitting over a dog, or using the existing holes to screw it down.

So… I saw those filament dryboxes. Of course I’d wanted to design one by myself so badly…

Spent all weekend assembling this Core One. It probably took 14 hours in total. 12 hours to build and 2 hours to troubleshoot issues. Broke some parts made some mistakes but I finished the build.

Not looking for support, just wanted to show newcomers that good printers with good calibration also can make spaghetti.

No affiliation here, I just came across FiberSeeker 3 and wondered what people think about it. The ability to do continuous fiber embedded printing really seems to step up the prints from prototype to actual functional parts.

I was looking for a second hand sonic pad in order to add wifi functionality to my ender 3 V2 that I am pretty happy with. I also expected some speed improvement but that was not the key reason that I wanted one. The wifi feature was the main reason

The SV08 Max loses about 100mm of height when you add the enclosure, and while there have been some top hats designed before, they all look.. bad. All of them use clear plexiglass all the way around and look really weird and “hacked on”.

In my efforts to kill this engine I’ve started to design a few bits to slap a small charger on, this was the easy bit, but also I got it right on the first print, which is rare for me.

I wanted to add wheels to my hammock so I could easily move it into shade throughout the day. Some openscad later and came up with this little bracket. Uses a clevis pin for an axle, and just pops into the metal tube feet of the hammock.

It’s only $10 shipped for the whole kit from Creality, so I figured why not. I accidently pinched the wiring and had to repair it so that’s why there’s heat shrink on it.

I tried 3d print glue stick. washing with alcohol. wash the nozzle, cold pull, higher bed temperature… nothing,

More problems resolved:

I’ve been wanting an F1-style steering wheel for sim racing for ages, but I didn’t want to spend massive amounts of cash on a commercially-built steering wheel that could be great but had loads of features I didn’t care about (especially LEDs and a screen) since I play in VR.

Not a request for help—yet, at least. Just showing off the gore from getting the printer working again.

The third step, burnishing the edge, at a slight angle towards the face “turns the burr upwards”. The SEM clearly shows a blade-like bevel has been formed, perpendicular to the card face. However, rather than simply turning the burr, metal has been reformed, and the burr has buckled rather than rotating. Additionally, the burnishing rod has honed the side of the bevel, removing metal just as a honing rod removes metal to restore a knife edge.

I haven’t gotten around to making a nice board with slots for each hone, and for some reason this setup wasn’t obvious to me so I thought I’d share. Front is against a bench dog, back is pressed against the rubber foot of the edge of the bench. It is easy to swap in the different hones, and doesn’t scoot around.

I picked this printer up with a bunch of filament for $60. The build plate was really loose so I took it apart and found that the bearings are loose within the plastic part. Not really sure what to do here. I might epoxy the bearings in place. I saw that there is a y axis linear rail upgrade for $40 but that seems like a waste of money.

Some hand warmes with an owl cable stitch I finished recently. I didn’t have much of a pattern, so I hope this post is still allowed.

I’m thinkin about getting one of those ruby nozzles for my printers to basically be able to print anything without ever having to worry about a degrading nozzle. I’ve seen quite a few videos about it, but I still don’t know two things:

Similar to the one I made in oak, the other piece of hardwood board I had for this project was ash.

I do not know anything about 3D printing, let me know if another place might be more appropriate for this post.

I’ve heard people say you can mix sawdust from your workpiece with wood glue to make an invisible patch, but I’ve tried it twice (once in oak, once as pictured on ash) and both times it came out significantly darker and the surrounding wood. The glue is Tite Bond 3.

I have had no problems with my BambuLabs A1 (with AMS lite) for the most part and generally love it. But for some reason this last, simple 1 color, one object print started doing something weird. Every 20-30 cm of line printed it goes and purges. (See picture, where it had only printed a short line and then went to purge. See all those white poops? That’s from a previous attempt where it stopped repeatedly to purge, similarly.) It does this repeatedly. Although I’m not an expert in 3D Printing I can’t think of a reason a printer would be doing this? (The print seems to come out fine if I let it do it’s thing, it just wastes a LOT of material and takes much longer than it should.)
