Thunder App

It’s annoying to have to scroll back up to view the clock l, change music or skip ads in pod carts so I’d like to be able to see and interact with the top notification bar all the time

Hello everybody,

After the latest update, clicking any item in the inbox or comment in my profile brings up a blank screen for me.

After reaching the end of my feed, it reloads the feed and concatenates it to the end once. Easiest to notice on small instances or with a short “top” sorting.

I’ve been away from thunder for a few months (some bug or other that was affecting me badly at the time), and it’s cool to see how much the app has progressed since.

Sinse updating to 8.2 links opened in the in app browser no longer open in reader mode, when clicking on the menu there isn’t any option to enable reader mode. In system settings the option to use reader mode by default isn’t visible. When searching for it in the settings it shows it as a result, however the opened page does not contain the option. Anything I’m missing or is this a bug?

Since the update, hitting the tick to mark messages as read in the inbox seems to misbehave. It’s like it’s marking the wrong messages. If I go in a different order, it works, but tapping the comment directs to the wrong posts, assuming of those that were in their slot before marking them off.

I find it very difficult to seek a video because the bar is so small.

edit: This issue is resolved with the latest update. It adds a toggle below the image, with alt-text default to off.

I haven’t tested this enough to be certain yet, but I happen to have lost my Internet connection a few times today (phone & hotspot issues) while using Thunder. Once the connection was fixed & I reloaded, it seems like the load failure caused Thunder to reset some settings to default such as my preferred sort order, and nav bar visibility.

What title say, and I couldn't find a option in the settings to hide it or disable it.

Hey, after trying every lemmy android app I could find, I like thunder the most other than Sync. But there are three main things that stop me from fully switching from Sync.

In my current app, when the author of a post has also written some comments, his name is not marked anymore.

I've enabled the option to show images with full height but sometimes they only show a small portion.

When an attached image is loaded, then if the loading fails the app should check if it's using proxying (domain belongs to posters'/forums' instance or user's instance & contains redirect format URL pointing to another domain) and give you a button to press to retry, which would suggest bypassing the proxy and requesting the original image directly

Is there a way to have clickable action buttons in compact mode. I know you can long press the post and you get the action buttons but that has the vote actions all the way on the left which is hard to press with your thumb.

I'm new to the app but noticed in 0.6.1 that despite changing my language to en_GB as soon as I leave settings and go back in, it reverts back to the US English setting. I went to your site and saw the link for translations and noted that the English (United Kingdom) had 0 translations. I signed up for an account and completed the language translation to 100% and so waited for a new release. Now that 0.7.1 is out the same issue occurs. Has the transition not been imported or am I hitting a bug?

When using the Gboard keyboard in thunder, every time I go back to the main page the Gboard keyboard pops back up. Has anyone figured out how to use Gboard without this happening?

I'm routinely running into an issue where if I haven't used the app in a while (a few hours), it hangs trying to connect. I then force restart and it's fine.

Images in NSFW communities are not treated the same as images individually marked as NSFW, and after a Lemmy update images in NSFW communities cannot be individually tagged as NSFW I hear.

I tap the star icon to save a post or comment, but how do I view those saved posts?

Hello, just trying to figure out how to make a single message as read - at present all I see is the “Mark All Read” in the upper right hand corner, but I’d like to mark them off one at a time. Thanks!

I wanted to bring to your attention a feature from Voyager for Lemmy that could be a valuable addition to Thunder.

Hi all - I'm a several-times-a-day Thunder user and really enjoy the app. It's steadily evolving and improving which is awesome to see and I really appreciate the efforts of the dev team.

Seems to occur until app is restarted. If I use search, then to back to my home feed, open a post and then swipe to go back my keyboard still pops up.

Expected outcome: nothing happens to the comment Current outcome: the comment gets a pencil mark

Expected behavior: the share panel should close

I go to settings -> general -> language

Feature request: Horizontal swipe for next/previous post in feed

Has Thunder ever considered potentially creating a Thunder community Discord server?

Very silly question I assume. There’s literally a thumbnail URL field in my thunder IOS app when I create a post. So far I’ve tried uploading an image in my main post which creates a web address and then placing that address of the image into the thumbnail URL. That does nothing though. Can’t find a manual online or anyone asking this question.

I can't find this anywhere. Is there also any way to check all the posts you've upvoted?

So I've compared Thunder, Sync, and Voyager. They all report as running at 120fps on my pixel 8 pro, but only sync and voyager actually feel like it.

My instance has a bunch of pinned posts that stay pinned for a while... I typically use Card view which means those posts take up a lot of space!

When I go to a post with video media, on iPad, there doesn't seem to be a way to exit. For images, they can be swiped away or touch outside to exit. For videos, ice tried different gestures and there is no back button or X.

Hey, new to the app (and loving it!) but here are a few features I’d love to see incorporated here:

Is it possible? Press-holding does nothing and the Share button only generates links or images.

When I hold on a word to start highlighting text, the delay appears to be longer than what I had set my phone to. I didn't know that an app can override this setting. Could it be set to follow it?

I've recently switched to Thunder from Sync, but am surprised that there's not an option to resize tall images to the display size. When opening an image in full screen, it does this, but not in the feed or when opening a post. Basically this would be an option in between card view and full height imagea, for images which are taller than the display window.

In the settings I've found card view and compact view, but even in card view images are not full sized.

This issue has bitten me several times. It was a problem in 0.6.0 and maybe earlier, and it is present in 0.6.1.

Same with making a post. I accidentally cancel making a comment all the time while simply trying to select text.

I'm tired of seeing american news spam and reich wing american politician spam on lemmy everytime I open it up especially when I don't even live there

This just started happening today so probably something I've changed in the settings but I don't know what. Whenever I take a "back" action, the phone keyboard pops up. This is true if I swipe on my phone (system default action), or press back in the top left of the screen.

I'm trying the latest build on Izzy F-droid repo 0.6.0 and it has graphical issues changing pages and scrolling.
