Is development still active on Arctic? Is there any movement toward using Liquid Glass in a future update?

No updates in nearly a year. Should this app be considered deprecated? Sad, it was the best

I don't mean to sound entitled, and I hope that the author of Arctic is in good health. But, with the TestFlight soon expiring and the AppStore version somewhat outdated, I was hoping if there would be anyone who had any news about updates? Or, should we be looking for alternatives?

Any chance of supporting Mbin/Kbin and Piefed?

Still using this app daily and was just wondering if it’s still being developed or if there’s a hiatus going on? Just curious, not trying to stir anything up, but would appreciate any clarification, thank you.

Arctic already keeps a draft of a post I’m writing if I swipe down the editor panel, however if open some other app and sometimes the Arctic app will “refresh” and I lose the draft forever It would be nice if the drafts, at least the last one, could be saved permanently

When signing into an account, there’s a field labelled username or email. But it only accepts your short username (eg. PocketGoblin).

Will Arctic also support PieFed in the future?

This one was very repeatable. Scrolling past this post caused the feed to jump up pretty much all the time. I did get it to scroll normally on a few occasions, but not exactly sure what I did...

I would like to subscribe to a news community (bot), but exclude it from my home feed to prevent flooding. (Subscription instead of „favorite“, because I want to show my support - stupid me?)

Is it just me or is something broken?

In using the 'Controversial' sorting option for my All feed, I found that it was consistently only able to load a limited number of posts before erroring out.

Currently, Arctic on iOS does not immediately hide a post when selecting the option to hide one. It is only hidden when the page of posts is refreshed. Please have hidden posts immediately disappear from view as soon as the option to hide one is selected.

Currently, Arctic on iOS does not have a “hide” option when swiping on a post. Please add the option in the gestures setting.

I think deleted posts should not appear in the profiles post history, but be filtered into some specific "deleted" category, in my profile page.

While I've made use of title and domain filters for a few weeks now to filter out unwanted posts from communities I otherwise don't want to block, I noticed today that if you press the 'Add Filter' button for Title, Domain, Community Name, or Username filters, but leave the filter blank, all posts will be hidden.

Most people probably wouldn't notice it, but the gap between 'Search' and 'TRENDING COMMUNITIES' is inconsistent.

In the 'Content' section of the Settings page, 'Embeded Crossposts' should be 'Embedded Crossposts'.

In recording the example videos for my prior bug report, I at one point accidentally entered 'Stean' instead of 'Steam' into the search box, subsequently re-recording the video to correct the typo.

Normally, the search tool takes the input query, applies it to the search type selected (Community/Comment/Post/User), and outputs the corresponding results. The user then has the option of switching to another one of the three tabs to repeat the search with a different search type. This functioning normally is demonstrated in the first GIF below:

While I'm saving most of my feature requests for after I'm done bug hunting, I thought that extending the same level of searchability to Mbin and Piefed communities would increase the number of communities users have easy access to, along with making it more likely that those communities get new Lemmy users to join.

Having curated my Lemmy Explorer list to specifically exclude subjects beyond my interests, I don't usually make use of the 'Random Community' button. After just tapping it a few times in a row, however, I noticed that it seemed to be drawing community names from a tiny subset of the 933 communities that I haven't blocked.

If you open Lemmy Explorer and tap on the search bar before the community list loads, neither the community count nor the communities themselves will appear until you either enter something into the search bar or cancel the search.

A minor graphical bug, but thought I'd still make note of it.

Typically, if you tap on a post's image, there is a quick animation that scales the image up from its current location on the screen until it fills the screen completely.

While scrolling through my curated community list in Lemmy Explorer, I noticed that error messages do not disappear until scrolling finishes, or if the user switches the direction they're scrolling in.

If a comment has text that's recognized as a URL, the system auto-generates a link preview for it. As the link preview of the updated comment doesn't replace existing ones, it's possible to repeatedly duplicate link previews via successive edits to the same comment. The view returns to normal once the page is reloaded.

The video in this post is showing the old zoom / rotation issues for me again. Haven't seen that for ages--don't know if it's the post or the video itself...

Another obscure glitch with blocking and unblocking.

Before downloading a shortcut to convert my screen recordings to GIF format for my last bug report, I tried uploading the original videos directly. Rather than getting an error for what I assume is video uploads not being supported, or perhaps the 10.5MB video being too large, I received the following error message:

Don't usually write long posts or comments, but saw this occurring with my last bug report post, and subsequently tested every formatting option to make a comprehensive bug report. I recorded an example of each for demonstration purposes, included below.

While marking text with the strikethrough or subscript options, several visual glitches seem to occur that are inconsistent with other formatting options and with how the final text is displayed.

In reviewing my prior comments, I saw that a quote I had included in one of my comments looked odd, and realized that I had forgotten to put a blank line between the quote and my reply to it, as such:

In reference to the community Subscribe, Favorite, and Block actions accessible via the three dot icon to the right of the community name at the top of the screen, the Favorite/Unfavorite actions function normally on community feed pages, but don't switch to the opposite action when tapped as the other two actions do, or as Favorite itself does do when attempting the same from one of that community's post pages.

When a community isn't blocked, the feed refresh swipe action works as normal, with the loading icon animation lasting for less than a second before disappearing.

Loving the new features so far, especially the improvements to Lemmy Explorer that facilitate community searching! Going to wait a few days before posting more suggestions from the list I've been compiling, so in the meantime I'll stick to reporting bugs as I find them.

In contrast to the Liked Posts, Disliked Posts, Liked Comments, and Disliked Comments options, which don't appear to work yet, the Hidden Posts option (on both one's own user profile and other user profile) simply displays the contents of the All feed below the user page header.

For some reason, this post shows the url text in the main feed, but the image when opened.

Tried moving the video forward while watching this Peertube livestream in Arctic, but the app crashed instead. The app crashed again when trying to do so again, but didn't crash when attempting to do the same with a pre-recorded Peertube video.

When viewing the instance list in Lemmy Explorer, enabling the Hide NSFW option hides 490 of the 567 listed instances. On the reduced list of 77 instances, feddit.cl, feddit.uk, and aussie.zone are listed as the largest SFW instances.

Not sure if it's possible with instances too, or just communities, but it'd be useful to be able to sort the Lemmy Explorer list by creation date.

If any text is entered in the search box on the search tab screen and subsequently cleared with the 'x' icon or 'cancel' text, the app crashes.

Hey there! How much work would it be to add the ability to select a font to use for Arctic that’s installed on the device? For instance, I use the Atkinson Hyperlegible Next font for everything that I possibly can (it works wonders for my dyslexia).

I would love a feature that allows me to ignore new replies to a post or comment I make. Apollo had this feature for Reddit and I found it really helpful to not get notifications to threads I wasn't interested in continuing for whatever reason (maybe it was getting a lot of off topic replies, or someone was arguing and I didn't want to continue to engage, etc.). Essentially it would just disable notifications from a chosen post, ideally triggered as an option in the three dot overflow menu on that post/comment.

After blocking several instances, my Instance Block List in Lemmy Explorer didn't update to reflect the newly-blocked instances until I restarted the app. It also seems to affect the UI that displays the "Block Instance" option, as it doesn't switch to "Unblock Instance" either.

[Edit] Per the comment below, the suggested feature is already possible via the custom theme creator (Appearance Settings > App Theme).

Not sure if it applies to anywhere else, but although the Block swipe action successfully turned into the Unblock swipe action after blocking a community in Lemmy Explorer, the Unblock swipe action did not switch to a Block swipe action in the same manner, despite being able to block the community by going to its page manually and blocking it in the standard manner.

While I don't make use of the gesture functionality in my regular usage of Lemmy, my extensive usage of Lemmy Explorer made me think that swipe actions would be useful there too, whether it be to block communities as I typically use the list for, or subscribe or favorite communities for those who make frequent use of those functions.

I have my font size set to S. After the recent updates (including the latest one today), the font size seems irregular unless it is set to system size. Toggling system size on then off temporarily fixes the problem. But the next time the app launched (after it has been killed), the problem returns. Attached are screenshots of before and after toggling.

Not sure if anyone else is seeing this, but it seems to be happening on all accounts. Currently on 4.5.11, wasn't seeing this issue until today.

Uploading any media is being blocked by the upload popup. I think it would be much better if the uploading indicator would not be blocking, instead just put somewhere an activity indicator.

After uploading images or videos I can't watch them until I have posted the post. I guess a preview of the uploaded media would be sweet. Maybe also an preview of the whole post.

After a post has been deleted by a mod it will no longer appear in my history. Could you add make them still appear in my "timeline", and mark them accordingly?

When creating a new post the post will be published but also the post will be drafted.

Had Arctic open in the background, with 4 unread messages and the corresponding icon on my Inbox tab, when my phone ran out of charge earlier today. When I recharged the phone and returned to Arctic (opened it with the 'currently open app list' UI), the icon was missing, but returned after I went to the Inbox tab and opened the unread messages menu.

Hopefully this is known about as it's hard to describe, but in the main feed I see text post previews in a mid-grey colour, and when opening them I see the full text momentarily in that colour (also with no paragraph spacing), and then it seems the style is applied and the text 'flickers'. Mostly just once, so it's not too bad, but sometimes it flickers back and forth causing quite a visual glitch.
