Oh yes, that’s great news. I wanted to play again in December but then thought, I’d rather wait for the new release. Looking forward to it!
Looking forward to all my mods breaking. /s (probably real though)
I looked at the supposed additions on this version’s wiki page and there are some really nice QOL improvements made. I think the main feature I’m looking forward to is:
The new secret seeds menu where you can mix and match secret seeds together to get some cool combinations.Tap for spoiler
You can still access old major versions of Terraria through steam betas, so here’s to hoping they do that for this update too, even if it’s not a “major” release. It’s once tModLoader eventually updates, and suddenly every single mod needs to individually update, that I’m not looking forward to.
Are there any release notes? I can’t seem to find them in the linked thread but maybe I’m blind or it’s because I’m on my phone?
No release notes here (in fact, it’s very short). If you want to know what’s in it, wait until the 27th (the devs will release an almost full release notes) or wade through the Terraria’s State of the Game of the last 24 months or so in the forum (the terraria wiki.gg has made a compilation of all spoilers made by the devs too).

It’s kinda unbelievable to me that this game is still getting updates on the reg so long after release. Not just minor ones either, but meaty, succulent updates. What a dev team
Concerned Ape VS Terraria Team in a decades long battle to be fan favourites.
In a world where corporations are fucking us as hard as they can get away with, with entire teams dedicated to calculating the exact maximum value of fuckery, these types of people warm my soul.
The final final update?

Final, final, final, final update.
I don’t play Terraria, not my skill set. But I’m happy it’s still going after all these years.
I love when games have extended post-release development like this so you can watch them continue to grow and evolve. Terraria in particular has been going for so long that some of the new additions come from suggestions by the dev team’s children.
(Actually that was already true several years ago. I’m expecting their grandchildren to begin contributing ideas any day now.)
How major is an update like this? Played through terraria about a year ago but wouldn’t mind another go
A pretty big update, but from what they’ve shown so far, its focus is mostly on QoL and fleshing out the game. No new bosses or anything like that.
That game already had plenty of flesh, but I suppose it could always use more.
They’re fleshing it out in a whole bunch of different places. It’s been like 2 years of spoilers, so I’m probably forgetting some big ones, but it basically seems like anywhere they can say “these unrelated features could still be improved” is likely getting something new.
Spoilers:
Summoners finally getting their own unique reforge prefixes like every other class instead of sharing with the mage, new weapons, new late-game health potion upgrades, a new and improved dungeon (for the first time since like 1.0), a better crafting UI, a more helpful guide, loads of new biome backgrounds, and a crap load more.
(E: saw another comment put new features in spoilers and thought it was a good idea so I reworded my comment a little)
This should be very large update, it’s been worked on for ~2 years
YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
