Is that Lindisfarne?!
I used to read this when it just started, back on AOL dial-up. Wow - I'm both super happy that it's still going, and a little sad that it hasn't become bigger. It was a really nicely fleshed-out world.
I feel like there's a sweet spot, where something is popular enough to be a thing, but not so popular that the people involved become celebrities too famous to be engaged with as people. I'm writing this from Dragon Con, and if I wanted to I could go find Bil Holbrook at his booth or after one of his panels (which look like they're held in relatively small conference rooms) and just have a casual chat with him.
That's way cooler than how it is with the big celebrities where you line up with a thousand other people, get ushered into a huge ballroom where you see them from afar for half an hour or so, and then get ushered out again while they go out a back door. And then maybe line up again so they can spend ten seconds shoving an autograph at you.
I think Kevin and Kell is pretty much just the right amount of popular.
Also, if I had noticed this earlier in the day I totally would've walked over to Mart 2 to congratulate him. I might try to do it tomorrow, if he's still here and I get the chance.
oh wow they are STILL doing this strip?? We used to read it all the time back in the day.
I've kept up with their RSS for the last 15ish years. Its a delight to watch the family grow.
Christ, there's a tab you forgot to check.
Meanwhile: Schlock Mercenary ended. Sluggy Freeland is still going, but maybe shouldn't be. Superosity's still going, but definitely shouldn't be. Mac Hall became Johnny Wander (still going) and Three Panel Soul (kinda-sorta still going). Freefall ended but I'm not sure the author noticed. Gunnerkrigg Court keeps getting weirder. Questionable Content keeps getting queer-er. Ozzy & Millie's author came out as trans. Pictures For Sad Children's author came out as trans. Real Life's author came out as trans. Dresden Codak's author came out as trans. It's Walky / Shortpacked / Dumbing Of Age's author came out as nonbinary. El Goonish Shive's author came out as "gender-casual," to no one's surprise. Sinfest's author came out as an anti-trans bigot, while Least I Could Do's author is a full-throated ally, and you never would've called that shit twenty years ago.
