Yes, because the oil CEOs are pushing "we're all doomed, so let's keep burning fossil fuels instead of doing anything useful" and they're they ones paying the bills at a lot of news outlets.
Simple answer, which conclusion do the oil companies want you to reach? Don't do that.
The capitalist class are counting on you to lose the faith. If belief alone that the world can be saved doesn't keep the fire lit, then fuel it with spite instead.
