MAHLE Hits Hydrogen Engine Milestone in Project Cavendish

MAHLE Powertrain announced that it has achieved a milestone in Project Cavendish, converting a 13-liter heavy-duty engine to run on hydrogen. The converted engine matched the maximum torque of the diesel baseline, MAHLE reports.

Measured engine-out NOx emissions suggest levels can be maintained below 0.2 g/kWh across the entire engine operating map using existing aftertreatment technology.
