I captured this image of NGC 281 with my S50 using 948 10s exposures. I stacked in Siril and processed in Siril, GraXpert, Cosmic Clarity, and GIMP. It's not perfect, but I'm still very much an amateur.

Stacked a 4 minute video last night, which came out very nice IMO

My second (and first successful) try of the orion nebula. Any advice for editing out the noise and these stripes? What are these?

Captured using a Nikon D5300 and s 140mm lens

My 5th time trying to image a seemingly easy target with something being off... This time I must have nudged the lens out of focus slightly and there was some dew forming on the lens that I hadn't noticed. This hobby sure has a steep learning curve!

Took a 8min exposure with my Nikon D800 and my 50mm f/1.4 by night.

On our journey to shot the best images we can with our non ideal setup we collected more data on the heart nebula. Main problem with our setup is the distance of the sensor which is not perfect and results in bad star shapes in the corners. Stepping down to 2.8 and using BXT helps a lot. Combined with old data we gathered a total exposure time of 14 hours.

63 x30 sec tracked, 10 of each calibration frames. Stock Sony A6000, ISO 1600. 500mm f8 ish with a ttartisan lens.

73x30 sec of the Orion nebula, with a stock Sony a6000 and a ttartisan 500mm f6.3 on a StarAdventurer.

25 minute exposure of NGC 2264 taken with a seestar s50. Testing the new denoise function added in the most resent seestar firmware update.

Shot with Vaonis Vespera II smart scope. 30 minutes of observation.

This is a first test to shoot NGC 7293 with a 135mm lens. Sadly we could only gather 15 min exposure time as the time frame for shooting this nebula is super short and we had a lot of clouds. Hopefully we have better conditions next year. But this test makes us hopeful to get a decent image with our equipment.

Got another shot at C/2023 A3.

Southern Ohio, USA. Bortle 3. Exif data is in the image. Colored adjusted in Gimp. We actually saw zero meteors. I was quite disappointed until I got home and looked at the RAW files in Windows Photos Legacy. I found 8-9 meteors! Apparently RAW files have some magic going on.

Saw two shooting stars pop up while watching the comet last night, one of them showed up in the exposure I was taking at the time. Canon R8 w 13s exposure, iso 8000, f7.1; cropped.

Got lucky with a clear night.

We got extremely lucky and got a tiny window of cloudless sky in an never ending sequence of cloudy nights. Also the conditions were a nightmare with severe light pollution and lights shining directly at our equipment.

We really struggled to combine RGB with Ha. For our first try at continuum subtraction however we are very pleased.

~600 images with 4 seconds exposure without a tracker. This is my first ever (successful) try of any object on the night sky. I did a post a few weeks ago asking for a camera setup, and I went and bought a panasonic lumix g85 with the 45-150 f4-5.6 lens I had in mind before that. I know this is not the ideal setup, but I am still very proud of that image. Although I would appreciate any feedback on how to improve my skills.

M31 shot only in Ha and OIII.

We finally got two clear nights and although the moon was really bright, this target came out quite well due to the narrowband filter.

We got a lucky shot of Andromeda with a meteor crossing our view. Apparently we shot a satellite flare next to Andromeda.

This isn’t a great photo. I was sitting outside in Moab, UT playing with the night sky app. The bright dot right above the hilltops is the ISS. Taken with an iPhone 15 Pro on default settings (3 second exposure in the dark) so it’s not that far off from the actual view.

Although the seeing was not great we managed to get our first shot of the region around Sadr.

Tonight a big solar storm hit the earth, showing aurora at least as far south as Northern Africa. I'm at 'RACA', a Belgian astro camp and took this picture with night mode on my Pixel7 phone. The main show lasted well over an hour and traces are still visible now, several hours after the start!

Hope this low effort post is accepted, I just wanted to share my first image when I started.

This was shot under extremely poor conditions with lot of clouds. So this is just a practice shot, but we try to get the best results with the equipment we have, so we will visit this target again with good seeing.

Last year, I had my mirrors tested optically because I was never 100% content with even my "sharpest" results - there was always a feeling that there was an unnecessary bit of blur in the raw data.

This will be the only chance I will have to see a total eclipse so I slapped together all the gear I own and made a dry run today. There were some wispy clouds that made things a little soft but it's better than the 400mm I used in 2017.

This is just a test shot to see how much detail can be captured using the 135mm Samyang lens. I think with way more exposure time and proper polar alignment the details can be further improved.

This was a very challenging target for us as we are still beginners, but the comet stands out nicely. We hoped for a bit more detail, but shooting with the Samyang 135mm lens is quite a strech for this target.

Day 2 of owning a new (to Me) Lunt60 in preparation for the April 8 eclipse, first time posting here.

I had to warm up my lens from time to time to prevent condensation build up, and therefore, every 5th image or so is missing. Is there a way to artificially fill the gaps in the trails?

It is a bad quality photo taken from a mobile. The circle that surrounds the moon is formed by the refraction of the moonlight when passing through ice crystals present in the atmosphere. At times surrounding the moon itself you can see a circular rainbow (they all are, but we see only half of the solar rainbow). This phenomenon is called a lunar halo.

Quite a big improvement over the last image of Orion I posted, and the two other attempts in between that I didn't post. This is mainly due to the addition of an OG star tracker that has allowed me to take 30" sub exposures and helped me to increase my total integration time. So this was: * 407 * 30" exposures * 50 dark frames * 50 flat frames * 50 bias frames

This is 1158 * 0.8" exposures along with 50 dark and 50 flat frames stacked with Siril. Shot with my Sony A7Cii and a Hasselblad 350mm f/5.6.

My first photo with a telescope. It is not a incredible shoot but I am very proud of it.

My first try at IC 1805 with my stock Fuji XT camera. Turned out way nicer than I could’ve imagined.
