In fact, I kinda like the idea of a group of people pacing along with these floats.
When outside the tarp, they could dance, covort and socialise, and then when one of the ‘pushers’ got tired, or nature called, they’d be replaced for a turn by one of the frolicking outsiders.
And no visible horses/oxen pulling them. So, evidently it was people under those green tarps, pushing them along. Doesn’t sound like the funnest job.
I wonder if, like the Philly Mummers, they boozed it up to get through their routes.
But think of the joy you bring to people!
