Well, I'm subscribed for now, and will keep an eye on how things develop. The sidebar rules immediately seem unusually proactive and thorough, while also overly elaborate. The 'psychotropics' section seems odd and rather unnecessary, especially given that psychotropics were no doubt integral to many pagan traditions. *shrug*

I don't know what I'd add ATM, but as someone strongly influenced by the work of Joseph Campbell in comparative mythology, I have a tonne of curiosity about ancient belief systems, and just plain 'what was life like?' across the ~2.4Myrs existence of species Homo.

I also happen to run a community here (Euro Graphic Novels), which for sure has loads of relevancy in terms of fine arts and Euro culture & history. In fact one of the books on my list to more fully review deals with a hypothetical post-neolithic society, one which has some interesting ideas about a concept that might be called 'a more conscious version of the Jungian Shadow.' If all goes to plan, perhaps the review is something I might share here in future.

Note: I suppose there are older, more populous and active paganism subs across the FV, but I'm thinking it might be fun to see how things go with a brand new one. Cheers. 🙂

You actually might be interested in The Ever Present Origin by Jean Gebser. It's a book about how human consciousness has evolved into different structures throughout history. It goes into the "Archaic" structure that Gebser theorizes Neolithic people lived in. It's incredibly interesting and right up your alley, from what you shared here. Fortunately, you can read it for free in Archive.org!

Not meant disrespectfully, but perhaps 1) you're not in to the whole upvoting/downvoting thing whatsoever and/or 2) something would have to MAJORLY unchain your feels in order to react? Or 3) something dang'ol else-wise..?

I actually joinied your server before you asked because I do like European comics quite a bit. One of my comfort shows is Érase Una Vez. Have you seen that one? I also have to get back into Astérix soon.

Nah it's fine. I'm from Central America but my dad is Spanish and I'm also a Spanish citizen. My wife and I are preparing to move to Europe and set down roots soon.

Err, but yeah... my step-mommy visited once, and she was an absolute *whiz* at S.American-style Castellano, yet when she checked out España, they unfortunately treated her like she had a HUGE speech-impediment and/or someone who was 'slow.'

It was almost like it would have been better to visit there, barely knowing a lick of Castellano..? "I just speak 'Merican, you foreign Sombrero-wearers!'" --like Hank Hill, or whoever, lol

Thank you for joining! The sidebar rules are proactive and thorough because I've been to other pagan online communities, and these have been the issues I've seen in them. From minors sharing sexual details about their rituals, to people pushing for "Annunaki-Nephilim" theories that have no basis in history, to downright neo-nazis using paganism as a means of spreading racist ideas. I made these rules to make sure the group stays clean and safe for people.

I'm well aware that psychotropics were used in several aspects of ancient pagan life. It's important to know, however, that the extent of their use and the substances they used are still hotly debated. We don't know a lot of important details, and that could be dangerous to someone trying to re-enact that practice. We know that Datura was used in some rituals, but how it was mixed and dosed is still unclear. A dose too large of Datura can potentially kill a person, and will certainly leave them mentally damaged in the long term. The last thing I want is someone dying or seriously damaging their mind because of advice they got from here. Now, you can still post content about the use of psychotropics here, like studies showing drug use took place in the Elusynian Mysteries, but just be mindful that it will be shared in the context of education and harm reduction, not an endorsement of taking substances.
