How useful would this be on a deGoogled device running GrapheneOS or Lineage or something without GApps or Play Services?

I run a deGoogled OS with MicroG. It works flawlessly. It’s not as good as zero Google, but it’s a good compromise.

Under “Settings” you can set it to pause below 50℅ battery.
