I just had a pretty extensive talk with my kiddo about slurs and how some slurs have been reclaimed by the people the slur is targeting, etc. (bitch specifically was the word we were using as an example). This reminds me of that a little. âGirlâ isnât quite a slur of course, but yeah language choice is important and can be complicated!
Men who use âgirlâ like this make it clear theyâre using it as a put down.

Heâs been allowed to use some cuss words (appropriately and not at people) for a little while and it was just time to dive into the differences between cuss words and slurs. I feel weird having to have rules around language sometimes, but children donât know what they donât know!
