Growing use of AI tech comes at expense of workers’ rights, protections and pay, report warns
Billion-dollar tech platforms are aggressively pushing for deregulation of the “Uber for nursing” industry in an effort to expand gig work in the healthcare sector, according to a report published Tuesday.
The report from the AI Now Institute, Uber for Nursing Part II: How Gig Nursing Companies Are Lobbying States to Deregulate Healthcare, examines the use of artificial intelligence to staff hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
The report warns that growing use of the technology comes at the expense of workers’ rights, protections and pay.

Well, I guess it’s a way to solve the issue of an aging population?
I was just reflecting that the next generation we may start to see average height drop and other interesting effects. With our diet, I’ve been starting to wonder. I think we really started geoff track with the deregulation in the eighties and we’ve certainly ballooned since then. Honestly, we’ve gotten so fat that it’s spilling over into Mexico and Canada.
It’s too bad that you probably can’t get real numbers to compare our health system to other nations, in a kind of day to day.
But these broad demographic changes we may be able to see. I think infant mortality is already way up.
But, yeah, think of COVID. Our leadership is addressing the aging population issue. Instead of focusing on a national plan to take care of the poor boomers (a lot of rich, but a lot of poor too. There’s justl a bunch of them). We were focused on opening up restaurants.
Honestly, that may be a lot of Republican opposition to healthcare. They know they failed a generation, and that it was going to be worse for them later.
