Explanation: In the US Civil War, General Robert E. Lee of the pro-slavery Confederacy is often lionized by ‘Lost Causers’ who believe that the Confederacy could have, or should have, won the Civil War.

In reality, he was a competent tactician, but a shite strategist who was nowhere near the genius Lost Causers portray him as.

Unfortunately, the anti-slavery Union’s commanding generals in the theatre were largely incompetent, until General Meade took over in 1863, and then General Grant in 1864.
