A taiaha is more like a two-handed club. The sharp end isn’t sharp enough to penetrate skin, but is used for powerful thrusting attacks.
Do we really have to wright AD? 😣 This just makes me feel old as hell.

Heh, in a comm where some objects are legitimately older than that epoch marker, it helps to make the distinction.

That’s so nicely crafted. Wonder if it was ceremonial rather than functional.
Functional. It’s called a taiaha and is not thrown like a spear it’s used more like a staff.
Are they all decorated that nicely?
Every one that I’ve even seen, yeah.
The decorations are also functional! The loose/dangling parts distract the eye, carvings are often a representation of the genealogy of the owner, or of the item itself.
