Aliexpress having a summer sale, I might as well grab a couple cables to replace my bedside one and one that'll live in my bag.

I can recommend getting a Treedix USB tester - it will show you if your cables are up to spec.
Good shout. Which one do you recommend? I assume the simple ones with just LED indicator should be fine, but I see they have a fancy display one for $50.

The LED ones are OK. They'll tell you continuity. But you won't get speed or PD information from them.
