@nostupidquestions @pathfinder With all the buff other spells and debuffs being status bonuses and martials and casters being balanced, what's stopping the best composition from being bards + 3 martials in Pathfinder 2e?
I realize this could all be misinformation because it's AI.

Haven't played in a while, but, what do you mean "best composition" ? I suspect you mean for a typical combat. What other comps have you played with/against? I guess I don't know what the alternatives to this comp are
!pathfinder@ttrpg.network might be a better place to ask.
Buffs don't stack is what's stopping things. You can have a few bonuses, but you'll only ever take the best of those types. So you can have an item bonus, a status bonus, and a circumstance bonus.
Item bonuses are pretty straightforward.
Status bonuses are typically from spells, so Guidance, Athletic Rush, etc.
Circumstance bonuses are a little harder to pin down because they can be finicky and decided by the GM. But it's typically an environmental effect. Strong winds at your back give you a +2 circumstance bonus to Tumble Through maybe.
So say you have a striking rune, Guidance, and a circumstance bonus to give you more, that's generally looking at +1+1+2. So that is very good, having a +4 to hit.
But honestly, Pathfinder is built for tactics like that and encourages them. Flanking, frightened, slowed, sickened, prone, off-guard, etc. All of the penalties you can stack on an enemy are there for a reason, and being able to take advantage of that tactically is all part of the game. Assuming you have a good GM.
So yeah, make a party of bard bard bard fighter and see where it gets you. I guarantee it's not optimal, but it'd be fun.
@Suck_on_my_Presence I said a Bard + 3 martials exactly for the reasoning of the no stack buffs limit and hence moot caster stacking. Apparently, AI also let me find out about the debuffs which bards can also do as status and martials can do via environmental effect as circumstance.
Whoopsie! My reading comprehension is borked.
Bard plus martials is also a good party, but you'd be missing some things for sure. And if the martials get AOE'd or the bard gets attacked, things could go south very fast.
But it would be fun regardless:)
@Suck_on_my_Presence What would be missing since bards get essentially all the buffs and debuffs because they don't stack? And wouldn't being aoe'd or targeted also equally hurt other team comps?
