Explanation: The Zhengde Emperor of Ming-dynasty China mandated (and you DON’T refuse a mandate from the Emperor) that his officials grant him victory names and titles, including that of general and duke (even though he’s already an Emperor???)
Unfortunately, I must confess to knowing very little about Imperial Chinese politics or the implications of rank, so I couldn’t say whether this was a Big Brain Move or just absurd, but either way, it’s certainly self-congratulatory!
