My introduction was Night Witches by Sabaton.
FROM THE DEPTHS OF HELL, IN SILENCE
CAST THEIR SPELLS, EXPLOSIVE VIOLENCE
My kids were big fans of Drunk History when they were 8 or 9 and they watched the episode about the Night Witches and spent the next few days pretending to fly around and bomb fascists.
Fun facts about the Night Witches: - they flew antiquated, cloth-wing biplanes in the dark, without any sort of night vision, much less radar - they would cut their engines and glide silently on the final approach to their bombing runs - they initially refused to carry parachutes, to reduce weight and increase their speed and range
