If South Park can’t get away with this one after their entire history of shows, even the shit episode where they literally said they were trying to see if they could get kicked off tv, then we know Israel has WAYYYYYYY too much control over society.
Muslums got the super friends episode taken down but that was a long long time ago. And ya know, we cant have antisemetism!
True. Admittedly I haven’t seen this episode yet, but I’d say going after Bibi is a bit different than offending Muslims by insulting their religion. I’d seriously hope they don’t pull the antisemitism b.s just because they make fun of Bibi.
That’s one of the things that has been so infuriating in the US lately. Can’t criticize a state for their actions because Jewish people live there and so somehow a criticism of the actions of the state means you hate Jewish people… :/
The Super friends episode parodied/insulted Mohammed who is a religious figure. Netanyahu is a politician and not a religious figure so he’s fair game.
I didn’t see the insulted part.
Is that like how they have to take down all the Jesus ones?
You might need to rewatch that episode understanding that recreating any living being’s image is a violation of the prohibition against graven images in Judaism/Islam.
TIL the south park drawers are Muslim
Im not suggesting they are. Im explaining why Muslims see making an image of their prophet so offensive.
It’s #3 on most versions of the 10 Commandments so in theory it shouldn’t be done by any Abrahamic faith but Rome really liked graven imagery so Christians have statues and paintings of their religious figures.
I think there were threats of violence involved in the super friends one.
No, there was no violence, it was just because they made muhammed (the god) a character and muslums find it offebsive to depict their ‘god’
I said threats of violence, not actual violence.
You mean threata of violence against South Park by muslums, correct?
Funnily enough, I felt like they skirted the satire line quite well with the Israel portrayal.
It was accurate but not that overly offensive (*except to those who deny a holocaust and hospital bombings). It almost felt like they held back on “attacking Israel”.
They could have at least given Net&yahoo the Plan B treatment.
Let’s see what the future holds!
Bullshit. If they couldn’t say anything a little more prescient about what’s going on in Gaza they shouldn’t have said anything at all. They know God damn well what Israel is doing and I do too, and so does the writer that put the headline on this article originally.
“let’s rip at Benjamin Netanyahu”
Ha! That was the tamest thing I’ve ever seen on South Park. And the scene with Bibi was only for a few seconds at the very end. The headline is such hyperbole.
I read about the episode in the guardian and it did not sound all that risque to justify the title here.
It sounded kind of funny though, did not sound like it touched on the fact that Netanyahu is a fucking Nazi, that the Israelis are Nazis, and openly supporting Nazis in other Western countries. I would consider those issues going there but that’s just because I live in fucking reality.
Just a standard (western?) ’stern Jewish mother’ joke.
It’s not exactly a comedic achievement.
It was so non-comedic it makes me think they prob just wanted to have their opinion out in public ("now").
Its south park. They get a few chuckles out of most but isnt too groundbreaking if you are informed.
I’m of your view but I wonder if it’ll cause some public crashouts anyways stemming from persecution fetishes.
You could just tell they mixed in the Brendan Carr stuff later and that this episode was supposed to be about children betting and Gaza. They did a really good job again though, the FCC stuff was very tongue-in-cheek.

They already did a Kirk episode before he died so it’s trodden ground.
They had Cartman play him so tricky to kill Cartman off but they still might have a crack at it.

Probably, yes. If Trey and Matt wanted to make fun of Kirk again, they would have just done that. It wouldn’t really be their MO to do 2x episodes about him so close together.
They are two of the richest guys in Hollywood and don’t really give a damn. I’m pretty sure if there was interference, they’d be raising hell.
The big question ahead of the newest episode was: what would South Park have to say about all this?
The answer is … not much.
The latest instalment, provocatively titled Conflict of Interest, makes no mention of Kirk
:-/
I think the most relevant part is when Vance threatened Brenden Carr
We can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way
Which is a direct quote by Carr about Jimmy Kimmel.
That’s probably the least funny thing I’ve seen that included the words “Jimmy” and “Carr” since the whole tax fraud scandal.
You reckon they delayed the episode about Kirk to thrash something else together so they could release that instead?
IIRC, they’re insanely fast. I think the turnaround time on a South Park episode is about one week, which is utterly ridiculous.
I don’t know if that Kirk episode will ever see the light of day, or if they’ll make any jokes about Kirk at all, especially while the Cheeto is in power. He’s repeatedly shown that he’s not afraid to abuse his authority.
I don’t know if they are still at a week turn around. They’ve already had a select few weeks pass where there was no new episode. It’s a good chance they just didn’t have it ready.
This season they’ve specifically said they’re on a biweekly release schedule. And then there was last week, which i still suspect they had an episode ready and it was denied.
I wonder if they meant twice a month. Kinda of like how getting paid twice a months still means two months with three pay checks.
They did an episode about Kirk not too long before he was shot and it already aired.
I was legitimately expecting a followup with Cartman doing his Kirk act getting shot in the neck, but alas.
Was that S27E04?
I guess I got the wrong end of the stick for 05 being delayed?
They won’t touch Kirk again for a loooooong time for fear of political retaliation. The Master Debater episode was pretty great though.
These the guys that put Macho Man Randy Savage in as a trans woman?
The guys that drew Mohammed?
The guys who make half a billion dollars.
You think they’re afraid of political retaliation?
You think they’re afraid of political retaliation?
Yes. Making fun of transgender folks and Muslims won’t threaten your paycheck

What world are you living in where that is true?
It’s hard to have a paycheck when you’re dead, ask the Charlie Hebdo artists.

You were far safer in the Charlie Hebdo office in 2015 than anywhere bordering the state of Israel in 2025.
Besides, Comedy Central got a bunch of empty threats five years earlier.
Three years after the inflammatory posts, it was the organizers of the protest who were criminally convicted and thrown in prison.
Matt and Trey continued to post their own brand of inflammatory rhetoric without consequence.

Are you suggesting that Israel is going to bomb South Park Studios in retaliation or what?
Weak episode redeemed by throwing the line that jews aren’t Israel and it killing thousands of people makes American jews face increased antisemithism into the mainstream discourse. I don’t think I’ve heard these obvious dots connected in high-profile media. I’m not mad.
I’ve been screening those points for years.
I think that episode was weak. no mention of AIPAC, focus on Israel rather than the humanitarian crisis.
But I still appreciate that the message of “Israel genocide is not for the welfare of Jews and is in fact generating antisemitism”
Certainly is more refreshing in here than the Reddit comments asking why the episode wasn’t a 60 minute political lecture about Israel’s genocide.
I felt this was the weakest of the season. I did love the jab at JD and his ulterior motives, especially after his weird mention of being ready to take over when Trump was in the middle of his disappearing act.
The Netanyahu reveal felt weirdly tacked on and very underwhelming.
I hope the next episode really rocks the boat.
I’d hardly call it a reveal. It was clear from her reaction in the lunch seen that she was appolled by what is happening in Gaza and offended at the notion that she has anything to do with it.
Not really. This episode didn’t really take any jabs at Netenyahu or Israel.
Sure, Sheila ended up criticizing him. And objectively made good points. But the show treated that as the punchline to turning her into the kvetching mother trope.

Thousands is an understatement by two factors of 10.
Finally the whole world should call him out.
