Just watched # heiseshow live on # PeerTube - and the numbers indicate the Peer2Peer system is working well for larger live streams!

A quick screenshot taken in the PeerTube web interface shortly before the #heiseshow live stream finished, showing the statistics pop up for peer 2 peer connections and traffic. It reads: Total Downloaded 343 MB; From Servers: 219 MB; From Peers: 124 MB; Total Uploaded: 185MB;

I accidentally reloaded my browser tab 4/5ths through or so, so I lost the overall statistics and can only show off the tail end, but this showed me, that the Peer2Peer system does its job to provide scalability for the video #Fediverse

(I swear, the numbers were even better halfway through the stream, when I checked)

That's great! P2P video, fun times

yay it works :D

I had been worried a tad bit, how well the system would translate out to Streaming - but it worked a lot better than I imagined, halfway through I had even uploaded more than downloaded, as well as downloaded more from peers than from the central server.

Also, that was probably the biggest live stream I witnessed myself so far on PeerTube, a milestone in its own right.

pity that I have missed it.

But its just so damn cool that this can happen in the Fedivers :)
