Cool coool, the Chinese have Read Fahrenheit 451: "Wolf Pack" Robot Dog Drones can be Equipped with Grenade Launchers and Machine Guns for Urban Combat
These drone wolf packs are designed for urban combat and help Chinese soldiers clear areas without risking themselves. I think I read something about a Torment Nexus in there too…

Yeah… I don’t like this.
I don’t like the Boston dynamics dog, and I definitely don’t like this one.
Can’t wait to be chased by one of these puppies on my way to steal some insulin.
Why would you choose to need insulin? If you were more moral you wouldn’t need a crutch like that. It’s all God’s plan. If you got free medicine, what motivation would you have to work?
(Did I miss any empty dismissals?)
We’ve now achieved Black Mirror. When do we get Terminator?
Why is no one making any anti-drone, drones… A drone designed ro sneak up on other drones and emp, or electrocute it… Or just grab it and chain it somewhere… Shoot a nail through it’s foot or something.
Ukraine is doing that. They have anti-drone drones called Sting
No emp because when it comes to drone warfare cost effectiveness is imperative. No use using a multi thousand dollar drone to down one that is a fraction of that cost.
Russia is pretty much doing the same as well. I just watched a video this past week of a drone of theirs skewering a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone with metal rods until the recon drone caught fire and crashed. The Ukraine war is definitely the cutting edge for drone combat.
Drones aren’t very evasive. Most just fly a set pattern. So yes, you could easily down one with another drone, if you are able to notice it, catch up to it, hit it, and successfully down it. But to effectively do that, you need significantly more anti-drones than drones.
More effective is probably lasers or masers from a ground station. It’s a lot easier to hit a drone when your weapon moves at the speed of light. But that still means you need to notice and target it. And with a ground station, you can only counter stuff in the local area.
Shotguns are cheap and it’s easy to reload shells. So many versatile DIY loads for all uses. Oh my bad wrong sublemmy. Whoops.
I think drones are effective when they are small and cheap, or when they’re essentially guided bombs.
Big stuff like this is like asking for a reminder on why humans are the apex predators on this planet.
Yay, new technology for turning humans into body parts.
I’m sure we, as a species, will use this technology responsibly…

I mean they look cool, but this doesn’t really seem useful? I mean in police operations they might see some use or extremely short and very well supplied missions.
Tell you what, I’m going to start bringing an ultra powerful magnet anywhere I go when these things are live, I’ll be damned if I’m going to be killed by someone’s fucking robot security dog, I’ll brick every one I can.
Mmh, as an enthusiastic clanker hunter, this is slightly above my pay grade. I love smashing clankers, but I’m not equipped to take on machine gun fire or grenades…
Maybe I just need a sniper rifle. But shooting hardly counts as smashing… It feels like a cop-out.
It was a marvel of human accomplishment to drive predators, effectively, outside human life. Now we will re-introduce the threat of predators through technology….the golden age is ending and we get to live on the fucking downslope….

Ignore the AI slop image from that article. If you follow the SCMP article Tom’s Hardware is citing. You’ll see a bunch of these
Looks pretty familiar IMO.

He added that the drones “understood” each other’s intentions and collaboratively accomplished missions even in the complete absence of communication signals.
Zhang said that highly intelligent, autonomous navigation methods resistant to jamming were needed to achieve “satellite-denied navigation” – the ability to operate when satellite signals are unavailable.

Well, we are not at the Autonomous-Refueling-From-Biomatter-Stage, yet.
Wasn’t this a black mirror episode?
I had to stop watching that show because too many episodes were hitting too close to home.
Or played Metal Gear. WTF.
Slop image is straight outta Wolfenstein lmao
