the trouble with Sicklebills!

Two photos. The one on the left is extremely noisy because shot in a dark area on an overcast early morning but if you look, you can see a sicklebill hummingbird approaching a heliconia flower and maybe you can see the extreme arch of the bill. The one on the right is technically better but this bright-eyed sicklebill has the bill wedged so deeply into the heliconia flower that you can't see the namesake bill at all, only the sparkle of mischief in this frustrating subject's eye. the trouble with Sicklebills! my photography skills weren't enough to capture the image of the White-tipped Sicklebill that I wanted-- flying bird was turned & also extremely noisy so I couldn't really capture the bizarrely arched bill but the feeding bird instantly had the sickle wedged deep in the heliconia flower where you couldn't see it
