I don’t think it’s normal to see murdered animals on billboards.
Is “greensicko-laser” a placeholder/alt text for an image? It looks like you just say greensicko-laser and I have no clue what that means
Yes, it’s an image/emoji. Trying to view the post from slrpnk it seems most of the images aren’t loading and I can’t tell if that’s a temporary thing, or if Anubis is unhappy with me, or if in addition to that issue you’re using a screen reader.
No screen reader, and no clue why, it happens often, though many times it’s just a delay, this time nothing seems to happen to load it..
Looking at the source text, the URL has a triple image proxy. From slrpnk to lemmy.ml to lemmygrad.ml to hexbear.net. The actual image URL is
https://hexbear.net/pictrs/image/1ceffa01-463e-46e2-8a88-ff68ffb8baa7.png
I don’t know the technical details behind it, but I wouldn’t expect the image being proxied three times to work well. Maybe slrpnk has defederated from one of them and that breaks the chain?
I’ve had issues in the past when the pictrs server most recently proxied from is struggling, but usually the number of proxies shouldn’t matter because each pictrs server caches the image, so slrpnk requests should have only gone to lemmy.ml to populate the local cache, but not beyond because ml has already cached all the images from grad.
Yeah I think slrpnk has defederated from at least two of them, and I think .ml is on thin ice lol, that could very well be it!
The triple proxy is impressive though
And thanks, that link works!
Not that it really makes a difference at this point, but I’ve updated both the comment and article with more direct links and that seems to have fixed things.
I recently read this thing about there being mycotoxins in lots of soja and oat based products made me kinda paranoid.

Makes sense, but why not also include ads for alcohol?
Why not ban all advertising. It’s all a waste of energy.
Many companies like websites, tv, radio, etc. depend on the revenues from advertisers to pay their workers and expenses. If they didn’t have that, everything would likely turn to susbscription or a regular pleading for money so they could continue.
If companies need advertisements to inform potential customers, let them do that in an appropriate place. For instance, an adds booklet.
Allowing companies to use the public space to advertise is not in the interest of the populace: it stimulates overconsumption and it creates distracting stimuli in an environment that is already very busy. It also facilitates unfair competition when advertising space is sold to the highest bidder, since company wealth supersedes product quality or utility.
cool, so they should still ban ads entirely. it’s a waste
while their at it, also ban a lot of the bullshit they put on products too.. zero sugar you claim? why is number 3 on the ingredient list… sugar? ohhh that’s right, you manipulated the serving size so math stoically there’s 0% sugar… but it’s a lie so ya know…
There are already some nationwide restrictions on ads for alcohol, though not (yet) a complete ban.
I guess it wasn’t part of this specific initiative, since it was aimed at carbon-polluting industries, whereas alcohol is a different type of problem.
Finally someone broke this barrier! Who’s next?
There go my dreams of opening a combination burger joint / gas station in the red light district
