My Ma is like this. Growing up, we’d just let her argue for her movie choice and then put on what we wanted in less than 30m 🤣.
YerboutiMy ex would start watching an episode while I was working on my laptop on the couch, fall asleep within 5 minutes, wake up and put it back at the begining, rince and repeat. She would ge mad if I change the show. There are episodes of shows I don’t give a fuck about that I must have watch 5 times. Once I got her socks that said “I’m not sleeping, I’m resting my eyes.”
Some people are just like this, and if cinema is their sleep language, let them watch sleep
No problem - but sure as hell won’t try to enjoy movie together with such person. Same as enjoying it alone if they’re like that. Not judging them, just if you wanna watch move together then that, you know, includes watching xD

My dad is like this. Put a movie on and give him about 10 minutes and a grandchild sitting near or on him and he’s out like a light.
i give my wife shit for doing this like once a week. and always during the ones she picks.

As for I, but it applies to both of us. So, we were both amused.
But change the channel and they wake up, complaining they were watching that.
It’s the sudden volume shift.
You turn it down, change channel, out the volume back up and they are none the wiser.
Even better if you have another source of noise to drown it out like a loud fan.
