I have one use-case where a trackpad is better. When making music and recording guitars, it’s easier to navigate the DAW with a trackpad while holding a pick. It’s annoying to have to let the pick go just to be able to grab the mouse properly.
I hate the mouse. It’s so frustrating that developers have abandons keyboard controls and functions. The mouse is always slower, less efficient, and more likely to cause repetitive stress injuries.

I generally prefer a trackpad, because I’ll do most things with keyboard shortcuts and the distance from keyboard to trackpad is much shorter.
