"Mission report: December 16, 1991."

Wow, can you believe it? A whole decade since the kickoff of Phase 3 - one of the best, if not THE best phase of the MCU.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a script penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, “Captain America: Civil War” is the 13th film in the MCU. It follows the Avengers as they disagree over the Sokovia Accords, a form of international governmental oversight, which fractures the team in two - one led by Tony Stark (pro-Accords) and one led by Captain America (anti-Accords).

This film was also the first MCU appearances of Spider-Man and Black Panther. Spider-Man in the MCU was a really big deal back then, since Sony owned the film rights to Spidey (and still does to this day). Instead of bringing Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man into the MCU, they decided to recast him with Tom Holland, who ended up being perfect for the role of Peter Parker. Chadwick Boseman absolutely shined as T’Challa/Black Panther, and it’s heartbreaking that we never got to see more of him past Endgame - 43 is too young.

I would consider this one of the best MCU films, next to Infinity War and Endgame. It helps that they’re all a part of Phase Three, so it’s nice that it starts and ends with something great and memorable.

"Hopefully one day you can understand. I wish we agreed on the Accords, I really do. I know you’re doing what you believe in, and that’s all any of us can do. That’s all any of us should. So no matter what, I promise you, if you need us– if you need me– I’ll be there."

AKA Avengers: Civil War.

I hope we get more team up films outside of The Avengers films in the future. This film really made all our characters feel like they were living in a world together. The fight at the airport is just amazing.
