I forgot that āwearing my dadās suit to promā was the fashionable look for a while
Those oversized suits are soooo uglyā¦
Slowly healing
I forget peak baggy pants made it into suits as well lol. It was an ok look for jeans (at an earlier point in the spectrum before it got ridiculous baggy, which is of course subjective) But the suits are always too funny. Like how many times can you wear those pants before they are ruined?
Wait, do you mean weāre going to get NBA All-Stars, Codpiece Edition!?!
Those old jackets were awful but the new pants are way too slim, look at how they wrinkle!
So, a bit more color variety and more form fitting? Though skinny pants are awful, itās hard to even sit

Man, that was 9 years ago, got something a bit more current?
2003, ganstas in suits?
Those arenāt typical gentlemen postures or fittings for that period.
The lower looks like healthy yale grads in properly tailored suits.

It has a name: the Great Male Renunciation.
And it was caused 100% by Beau Brummell.
Which is an exaggeration, but not by much. The guy had quite the life, and is responsible for what became modern mens fashion.

Great Male Renunciation. A reaction to the French revolution. How style for men was displayed no longer through expense of colors or keeping up with changing trends. Instead that wealth was shown by knowing the right materials to look like any common man but to those in the know be showing your class.
This comm is always reminding me of Behind the Bastards. The whole suit and tie thing had to come from somewhere didnāt it?
Part One: Beau Brummell: The First Celebrity and Inventor of the Suit and Tie
Part Two: Beau Brummell: The First Celebrity and Inventor of the Suit and Tie
That 1948 looks pretty damn good too though.
We stan bisexual icon Cary Grant
The French Revolution, mostly.
Meh, I look great in anything, or in nothing at all.
Or so Iām told
Easy access to antibiotic-laden meat has made us too huge to fit in nice clothes.
What, should we bring back the macaroni hairstyle?
[clears throat]
Yankee Doodle keep it up, Yankee Doodle dandy!
I prefer either of these for parties over the casual men outfits today.
but have you considered
comfortable
A well cut suite is really comfortable. I think many complaints about uncomfortable suits are from people who only know cheap plastic suites.
Itās not more comfortable than my v-neck and shorts that I wear every day.
I mean, most people donāt have the money to buy a well cut suit
even if i did, why on earth would i blow it on something so utterly pointless as a suit?
Return to medieval peasantās clothing: cheap simple fabrics dyed with flowers and stuff.
Itās like 15⬠to get your trouser adjusted by a tailor
Yes and as an autist i consider that the most important metric, no one should feel pressured to wear something uncomfortable, that said dressing in personally liked style itself can be a comfort of itself
