So far, I am enjoying PieFed.social and there are features on it I wish I had before. Originally, I joined KBin.social but KBin ended up being abandoned because the owner had health issues. So I moved to both MBin and Lemmy. Things were going good for a while, but, sometimes I would unintentionally attract the ire of antagonizing users from certain instances. This is not my first account in the fediverse, this is probably my 8th or 9th go at this.

What are some daily little ingrained habits that you have? The kind of things that are automatic, ritualistic, and usually without much thought.

i think i compulsively “remix” things. not in a musical sense, but in a conversational one. it doesn’t feel to me like it’s enough to just react: if i send a meme to a friend, they will usually respond with an emoji, but when they send something to me i feel this… pull to continue the conversation. the original joke is not enough, it needs to be riffed on. if i can’t think of a witty comment for the thing, i often do not respond at all until i’ve thought of something.

I mean it’s about a hillbilly white American family…

I know this is meant to be a casual conversation and this topic can get deep fast, but I’d love to hear everyone’s elevator pitch for their religion or lack thereof. peace and love<3

My insta feed is drowning in gushing memes about it

I just saw someone else post asking why someone would want to get married, so I’m curious to see the opposite. Within the U.S., you can pretty much marry whoever you want as long as they are of age, and many legal benefits come with that. I personally know a couple who have been together for 20 years, and we live in a state that doesn’t recognize common-law marriage, so they are now considering it. Are there other situations where it simply makes sense to not get married?

I’ve been in a stable relationship for a while now so naturally the idea of being married to that person comes up. But I just can’t think of any argument in favour of it.

I told my dad about the appointment a few times before and he didn’t even seem to remember it to wake me up…

It’s weird. When I look in the mirror I never think I look average. Either I think wow I look handsome or eww have I always looked like that?

I realized a while ago that in my whole career I’ve never worked for a for-profit corporation.

What makes it worse is the language barrier… cuz I’ve been using English since 8 and its my primary lanfuage, and my mom sounds awkward af in English and she won’t understand complex topics…

It’s not unreasonable to percieve the WWW for the past 20 years, definitely 10 years, to basically being a handful of website with 90% of the users.

In my work there are 3 guys who use your typical doom-scrolling apps, and they are basically what their feed show them. One of them is a fan of X thing, and their feed is constantly showing them how good is X thing and how bad is Y and Z, the algorithm would NEVER show them the contrary because they’ll stop using the app, so they keep being fed with the same thoughts although they might be wrong, they might know that they are wrong but there’s enough “evidence” (an infinite amount of short videos telling them what they wanna hear), and is exactly the same with each one of them, The most curious thing is, although as human beings we have our own personality, each one of them tends to “adapt” their personality to mimic what the stereotypical Tiktok guy says.

The 20x30 cm silver photo frame just disappeared under my nose. I was printing photos while the frame was lying on the table, then I picked it up and unpacked it, and either put it back on the table or held it in my hands while I was doing something else, I don’t remember, but when the photos were printed and I was going to put them in the frames, I couldn’t find the frame anywhere. I’m famous for my quirk of unnoticedly carrying things around and putting them in unexpected places, but I have no idea where I could have hide that large silver frame. I searched the entirе room and couldn’t find it anywhere. When the client arrived, we had to choose a different frame. I thought that in a couple of days I would find this frame in an unexpected place and laugh at myself, but a month has passed and I haven’t seen it again. It’s just so weird

So like… I tried to read one paragraph of the manuscript of my memoir… like just a paragraph of my “origin story”… and… I sort of expected it to sound dramatic like a movie character revealing their backstory…

I’m sitting enjoying a bit of sun in the Scandinavian winter. A pair of mature ladies are sit down next to me having a conversation. They are talking about funerals, remembering and comparing. Cascets, urns, churches and funeral lunches. One of them circles back to humble bragging about one funeral in particular. “It’s the most modern funeral I’ve ever been to”, she says every time.

I’m learning Korean, Russian, and Mandarin right now! It’s a bit difficult at times, but I really enjoy them.

what does your instance look like on ur device?

We have way better food than they can get in the unprotected crop fields. We have food that tastes better, food that’s easier to transport, food that can be stored for longer, etc. We have giant fridges and freezers and ovens to make cold food and hot food available without caring if it’s cold or hot outside.

Recently switched a needed policy to a different company. Same policy details, $400.00 less for 6 months. They really just rely on people letting things get charged automatically. It just seems insane to me. And wastes my time having to swap back and forth. But whatever, I’ll do it.

I’m just grateful to see it. I thought my town was more conservative, but there’s a large showing in our tiny downtown square.

Yeahh.. for the past few months i had been consistently studying for 7-8hrs a day consistently for my competitive exam (avg asian teen energy) and today i had my first attempt, and i kinda fucked it up very bad.. its a physics chemistry and math exam and i kinda went blank and the first few questions were very tough and my morale just went downhill after that, i couldnt even do the easy questions

My work situation is greying and killing me faster than my body can withstand. And so, I’ve updated my resume and started putting feelers out there which means recruiters have been reaching out

There are cases where I ask someone to play something like TF2 and don’t wanna voice chat and I don’t get that, like it makes me feel like we’re not even interacting at all.

Literally every time I use Open Source stuff, I get a massive headache.

been applying to a lot of jobs, in my career field and otherwise, and a lot of them are asking if they can contact my previous supervisors. they cannot, because i do not have any way to contact them myself LOL but is this really normal?? who is actually calling those people? is this affecting hiring decisions??

I’m a relatively fit, 38 year old, male. I’m 6’3”, 235 pounds, muscular. I play hockey 1-2 times a week and regularly exercise.

Not technically my house, it’s my parents. But I live here so… its still my “home” for the forseeable future.

If $0.0001 AdSense can run the internet, so can my $0.001 in a world without digital slavery. Such a system would largely fix the present world given enough time.

Not to get political, so I’ll just briefly mention it: I read about the internet shutdowns in Iran… and I’ve heard about similar things in India, during times of civil unrest…
