The first phase of the transition from iDEAL to Wero has begun. Dutch consumers are now seeing the new iDEAL | Wero logo replace the familiar iDEAL brand. Behind the scenes, work is underway to move iDEAL transactions to the Wero system, creating a modern European digital payment method that builds on what millions already use every day.

As an Italian living in the Netherlands, Ideal is so convenient to use. It being European is an added perk

That’s a lot of marketing speak for not answering the only question that matters: do banks that currently allow paying with ideal in the browser without an android/ios app continue to support this or will they force everyone into the google/apple ecosystem like all banks so far?

I have no clue where you read that but directly translated its “dograincoat” lmao

This is what the post looked like in my feed haha

Aaah that explains, I don’t see a thumbnail. Love it tho

I’m wondering what FOSS clients are out there. Is there any list?

How many countries can access Wero now? Is that just EU or could other European countries also join? Switzerland, Norway, UK?

Wero is a European project, but non-Euro countries can definitely join. Currently Wero is being rolled out across the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, France and Germany. But and agreement has been reached with EuroPA. https://epicompany.eu/media-insights/bancomat-bizum-epi-sibs-and-vipps-mobilepay-sign-mou-to-accelerate-the-rollout-of-sovereign-pan-european-payment-solutions

Read this article. It will tell you more about non-Euro countries

Sigh… I’d sign up, but apparently it requires that my bank supports it, which it does not, so I cannot do that. :/

This tracker shows only 4 shops supported. I hope this number is going to increase soon.

Thanks. I see Bunq in Ireland supports this. I’ll have to research Bunq
