Michael Unger, director of programming at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre in Vancouver, said while he didn’t see the shape himself, based on video it didn’t appear to be a natural occurrence such as a meteor or cloud cover.

I think the prevailing theory is a SpaceX vehicle venting fuel after launching from California at 8:30pm and orbiting once (approx 90 min) to be seen over BC at 10pm. Given the speed it goes across the sky and the very wide range of locations it was spotted from, something very high up (like LEO high) makes sense.
Cool to see though!
