Fun Fact: Thích Quảng Đức, the monk in the picture was not protesting the Vietnam War, but rather the Catholic oppression of the Buddhist majority by the American puppet government.
… which feels like protesting the Vietnam War, if we’re being honest. Both are facets of American imperialism in the region.

Aside from that, some of Timecop1983’s albums, mainly “Night Drive” (2018), “Faded Touch” (2021), and “Searching for Tomorrow” (2023).

I usually listen to punk and rock, but today I’m having a boiler replaced, and the gas engineer introduced me to Gold Radio, a UK based station. They’ve been playing classics from the 50s to the 80s, so I’ve heard loads of old songs that I haven’t heard for years.
Right now one of my favourites is playing though, Mister Blue Sky by ELO. Possibly one of the best songs of all time :D
I created a playlist that just makes me happy, it’s a colourful mix of old rock (for example: Ram Jam - Black Betty), nerdy stuff (like Bo Burnham, Tom Cardy, Flight of the Conchords), lefty bobs (ex.: ZSK - Antifascista, Ska-P - Colores) and old cartoon themes (Arabian Nights, Ducktales, TNMT) with lots of quality german stuff (Seeed, Wir sind Helden, Knorkator), many epic rap battles of history and some really gangster british drill rap with a twist (like Pete & Bas).
It’s just… I don’t know, the songs are mostly upbeat, funny and energetic. I used to be mostly a metal guy, but with age came the conclusion that whatever makes me happy and gives me some energy to get through the slog of the day is just… good.

Primo theater nerd progessive rock sprinkled with metal. My taste heavily leans towards exceptional instrumentation and harsh vocals, but this band’s vocalist blew me away. It is immediately obvious that he was the lead in one to several of his high school’s musicals and likely went on to study and train in a conservatory or university program. His delivery is nuanced and theatrical without going overboard.
The instrumentation is stellar with an arrangement that accentuates and complements the vocals without fighting for space. Impressively, the combined runtime beats out Between the Buried and Me’s Parallax 1&2 by 6 minutes. Like Parallax, the Breacher saga has enough variety in composition that the 2+ hours isn’t a slog but an enjoyable journey that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.

For the last one Jeff Rosenstock is a maniacal bastard because it’s the only cover of Bizarre Love Triangle of it’s kind, he’s been literally offered money to make a full length cover and said no. I get his reasoning, but I hate that the world will never hear what could have been. The rest of the jam session is worth watching as it’s phenominal.

I’ve been coming back to a eurobeat mixtape Hyundai put out a few years ago, playing over footage of a Nordschleife endurance race. Just playing the whole video, start-to-finish.
Jessa Stebbins’s music is great on its own, I’ve got a lot of her tracks on my own playlists already, but this arrangement combined with the sounds of revving engines and squealing brakes in between songs, adds another layer to everything.
Relatedly, can you explain why you or why a looooot of people liked this song? I know I’m very not normal and I don’t usually like what most people do. That said, I usually understand why most people like something, I just disagree.
Fast car? I don’t get it. I think it’s fine, but it was massively popular. Wayyyyyyyyyy more than I thought it would be by my typical observations.
It’s a beautifully-written song with a lot of emotion. It tells a unique story that is both sad and uplifting.
It’s melodically interesting and Tracy’s voice sounds amazing. It has a catchy guitar riff yet it isn’t repetitive.
It’s a really nice song, do you like other singer-songwriters?
It’s the chill of the album and of course Tracy’s empathy to others. Over the tracks is my fav. It’s haunting. It was previous but given the events at the mo it’s a reminder.

Well I’ve been playing this game called Pacific Drive. It’s a driving game, but also survival horror. It’s like Jalopy, but with the anomalies from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The game is fantastic, I highly recommend it.
Anyway, the soundtrack seriously slaps. They licensed music from independent and lesser known artists for the radio stations, and it’s all super atmospheric and perfect.

I played through it last year, and Pacific Drive is an amazing game. Probably #2 to Outer Wilds for me. I’m a hardcore sci fi nerd, and Pacific Drive hit so hard.

I thought about Full Moon Fever - Tom Petty, but I just didn’t love it like I used to. The CD changer is due a refresh.
I found a “Every UK #1 1952-2021” playlist. I might copy it, tidy it up, remove the Xmas singles and have that as a car playlist for a bit.

I just fake it with a Playlist these days. Add 5-10 albums to a playlist and swap albums out as and when. I do miss the ‘skip album’ button though, press that enough and you knew that CD needed pulling for something else. Now I’m furiously skipping tracks one at a time to get to the next ‘CD’, which encourages me to change that album faster, but is distracting while driving.
